Okay, folks. This has been a long time coming, but it's hard for me to admit defeat. I started this place to give some of my favourite people in this hobby a place to tell their stories without the pressure of judging rubric or word counts or any of the other things that make this game more stressful than it should be. The point was to have fun. I haven't been having fun for a while. I'm sure that's not a revelation here, given that shows have been ending up late a lot in the past few months. I can't even begin to tell you how much that bothers me, setting up this perpetually spiralling cycle of anxiety and self-loathing. Anyhow, enough about that.
I changed the schedule from 21 days to 28 hoping that would help. Nope. More time between shows wasn't the answer because when it comes time to put it all together, it takes LITERALLY FOREVER. It's something I've come to dread. A lot. Before I get to the meat and potatoes here, I want to be clear after so many places have disappeared lately.
The pace we've been going with the shows written they way they are is VERY taxing on me. As some of you may know, I do struggle with my mental health. I also work a job that takes up a lot of time on what is the weekend for everyone else and usually leaves me pretty drained so I need to sleep the bulk of Tuesday to recover. If we're going to keep going, keep on telling our stories hereā¦ something has to change. So it's time for a little STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS in regards to the updates I'm going to make so we can continue on.
Solstice in August is still going to be the finale for Season 2 (as was always the plan). Going forward, we are going to introduce a second show called UNLEASHED. Shows will run going forward every 2 weeks on a rotating schedule.
ABOUT UNLEASHED:
This show will be our version of AEW Dark/Elevation, a sort of house show that will feature more matches so that folks aren't ending up idle and our main show isn't ending up 100k word salad with 11-12 matches. UNLEASHED will be happening IN CHARACTER at the Silver State Ballroom in Reno. OUT OF CHARACTER, it will feature very brief results without fully written matches and without full segments. This will showcase our talent and leave REVOLUTION open as the flagship show where we can showcase storylines, rivalries, and championships rather than fill the cards with random and/or debut matches. So how will the show be formatted? I'm going to borrow from our affiliates and tweet out these match results as a sort of "live stream" on Twitter and then post a short recap of the show on the forums once it's done. There will still be the ability here for there to be notable events within those little blurbs to start storylines and/or angles for the main show.
Okay, so what happens with REVOLUTION then?
I'm glad you asked!
REVOLUTION shows going forward will be capped at a maximum of 5-6 matches, all of which will still be fully written the way they are now. Segments for this show will be only required from folks who are in title matches or who have a particular angle or story to sell and be capped at a max limit of 750 words.
WHAT ABOUT SEGMENTS?
Segments submitted for REVOLUTION going forward will need to be in the established script format as outlined in the official rules found HERE. If you submit a segment that's not in the correct format, it won't be included on the show. I shouldn't have to take time out of putting the show together rewriting your submissions. I don't mind doing the color coding... not at all talking about that. We're all adults here. You know what the shows look like by now (or at least I hope you do). It's not hard to follow the right formatting.
If you're booked for the UNLEASHED house show and want to sell your match with a segment rather than on Twitter, you're free to write whatever you want for a pre-recorded promo and post on the forums in the development board (same as it's always been).
WHAT ABOUT SUPERSHOWS? ARE THEY STILL A THING?
Yes. Every fifth REVOLUTION, we'll still be doing Supershows with their own unique themes, usually travelling outside of Reno, Nevada. These will be capped at a max of 9 fully-written matches with a segment max word cap of 1k.
ANY QUESTIONS? CONCERNS? WANT TO TELL ME YOU WANT OFF THIS SINKING SHIP?
My DM's on Twitter or Discord are wide open. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks. Let's keep making this place awesome.
