“Welcome back, you’re listening KPLY Fox Sports Radio here in Reno. I’m Michael Proctor and I’ve just been joined by two of the top stars from Uprising, which will be having its anniversary show here in Reno on November 15 at the Silver State Ballroom.” The host said as he tapped the button to connect the calls. “I have Uprising’s Silver State Champion Serenity Holmes and the Uprising World Champion Kevin Mears. Welcome to the show.”
Kevin: Thanks for having us, Michael. You forgot to mention we’re also half of the Aces, the company’s most successful faction and it’s not even particularly close.
Serenity: I appreciate the hospitality. Kevin and myself are glad to be here to represent The Aces of UPRISING Wrestling and remind everyone why our faction is the only one that matters.
Michael: I’ll start with you, Kevin. You just recently became the Uprising World Champion last September at Solstice 3 when you defeated Samantha Tolson for the title. What did that mean to you?
Kevin: Pinnacle of my career honestly. And I’ve not even hit my prime yet. Winning the title was the end result of about a year of earning the shot. I didn’t expect Tolson to be the champion when I got there, but when I learned she was, I was even more confident that I’d leave the show with the World Championship. Which I did.
Michael: Not too long before that, Serenity, you became the Silver State Champion in a match with Kevin here and Amy Santino. Describe how that felt winning a title that Kevin here really brought a great deal of notoriety to.
Serenity: The Silver State Championship means you’re the next breakout star in UPRISING. As one of the clearest examples beside me, Kevin Mears became UPRISING World Champion after cementing his legacy with the championship I hold now. When I won the Silver State Championship, I was relieved because I had to suffer through so much from the Vilaro Fitness, the One Percent Club and every other person who had something to say. This championship means everything to me and it represents what happens when you defy the odds and prove the naysayers wrong.
Michael: On this anniversary show coming up, you two are facing a member of the Kingdom in Madison Carter. That’s a group that’s been highly critical of the Aces. And she’s teaming with Amber Mansley who just recently arrived in the promotion. Serenity, I know you have a lot of history with Amber and even recently faced her one on one in a No Holds Barred match.
Serenity: Oh God, you know I am really getting sick of hearing that name over and over since our days in the amateurs. Amber Mansley is a joke and she’s been a joke ever since I left her in the amateurs under my father’s provision. She can’t stand the fact that I am the one bred for this business and I’ve always been the better competitor so she wants to smear my name and do everything to humiliate me. She’s one of the most spiteful people I’ve ever met but as long as I continue to show who exactly is the better wrestler, she won’t ever be a threat to me.
Michael: As I said, her partner that night is a member of the Kingdom who has been highly critical of the Aces. Can you explain why?
Kevin: I don’t blame them. I’d be critical too if I were them. You have four people in that group, and three of them have proven again and again that they don’t measure up to top tier talent. I don’t care about this Trixie chick they brought in, so let me explain on the other three. Michael, I know sports fans like stats so allow me to put this in a very stat based form for you. I’ll start with Samantha Tolson. The woman I took the World title from at Solstice. You know how many title defenses I had as Silver State Champion? Six before Serenity claimed it. You know how many World title defenses she had before she lost it? 2. That’s right, just two. She’s now tied with Chris Mosh on that little record. So if you do the math. It’s not flattering.
Michael: I know you have an affinity for Samantha, Serenity. Do you agree with what Kevin here is saying?
Serenity: I stand by him all the time. I watched their match at Solstice III in our locker room and I was glued to the screen because that match was important to me. I sat there and watched Kevin and my aunt battle it out in one of the best matches in UPRISING history where there was no need for lies, shortcuts, any type of cheating, it was strictly who became the better wrestler and Kevin Mears was the better wrestler. However, what my aunt did afterwards was something I didn’t think she was capable of; Of course, I’m going to support him when he needs me but I know Samantha was wrong for what she did. The Kingdom has no right to criticize what we do when they’ve fallen to us many times.
Kevin: I told Samantha going into that match that I was smarter than her. Not long before she won the title, Serenity pinned her one two three. Of course, I never heard her say anytime she deserved a shot at the title after she won it. Why? Because she already knew the outcome, and I’d have ended up facing Serenity here for the title that night.. I helped Serenity with her strategy for that match. I didn’t get involved in the match, so there’s a big difference. So if I can help someone else beat her, I knew I could do it myself. All that time at the gym and dancing at the Velvet Rabbit wasn’t enough to get the job done. Before it gets misconstrued, I got nothing against women who work for places like the Velvet Rabbit. I’ve visited several of those establishments in my life, including the Rabbit several times.
Michael: There’s also Jace Parker Davidson. I know you’ve faced him before, Kevin.
Kevin: That’s right. I faced him at Vertigo, and I put him down for three. Now he’ll point out I used the ropes. But this is a guy who said from the get go that he does whatever it takes to win. Well if that’s the rules he wants to play by, I was happy to oblige that night. That loss for him kinda set the dominoes in motion. Why? Because he started losing to other people in the company. Not that I blame him for that, Donovan Basch is a beast of a man. If nothing else, I’m guilty sometimes of giving people too much credit. That was the case there. I visited this man while he was laid up in the hospital at one point, something I almost never do. And by defeating both him and Samantha one on one as I have, that’s a big reason they don’t like me now. If I were them, I’d be mad too. While they all sit on Twitter complaining to their followers, Serenity and I are here on KPLY which reaches thousands upon thousands of people in Reno and surrounding areas…just like my Twitch channel…just like the podcasts and YouTube interviews I’ve been doing. They complain I don’t tweet enough, well that’s because I’m reaching bigger audiences like this. Plus I have a life outside of wrestling. I don’t eat, sleep and breathe this 24/7. And that’s also part of the anger because I’m still good enough to pin them both despite all of that. I don’t sit on my phone refreshing the timeline twenty times a day and making up memes to try to get attention. I don’t need to, I already have the attention.
Serenity: The Kingdom are a joke. I’m tired of trying to hold my tongue when they rampage social media every chance they get talking about The Aces in such a negative fashion. When The Kingdom was self-proclaimed as the top faction when really it was them relying on Samantha’s success, no one had an issue. They all carried on like it was their day and yet The Aces are the problem because we grabbed their championships, defeated them in matches that left no excuses and they have the right to cry wolf. It really makes me laugh, that's why I consider them a joke. The Kingdom doesn’t know how to handle adversity and as much as they want to paint us as the villains, replay every match we had with them and you’ll see one thing that the Aces have always dominated their pathetic little kingdom.
Michael: That brings us to Madison Car-
Kevin: Let me tell you a story, more stats here. There was a wrestler here at one time named Walker Hill. He worked in the same two promotions I did. I don’t know where he is today, but ol’ Walker couldn’t ever get a win. He was in match after match after match between two companies, and I don’t recall any match he won….until he met Madison. Now her, he was able to defeat. So that kinda gives you an idea of the talent depth we’re talking about here. I know she’s new to the business. But to be the first win of a man who has never won a match in his whole career that I recall to that point…whew, that’s a tough pill to swallow. I beat the guy when I faced him in one of the two promotions we both worked in. So crunch the probability numbers there. If I can pin him but she can’t…
Serenity: Madison Carter? I don’t even know where to start with that woman. Honestly, at first, I pitied her because she was a nobody trying to make something of herself. Here comes this woman with no professional wrestling talent but loves to portray herself as free eye-candy to everyone for attention thinking she has a chance to face someone like me. As a matter of fact, Madison Carter can’t even do half the things I’ve done in my career. I’m 19 years old and have already made history in UPRISING Wrestling and yet she wants to criticize everything I do as if she knows better than me. Madison hasn’t won a single championship in her career, I won my first championship in just three matches since my professional debut. I came to UPRISING to be the best and got put to the test beating championship-caliber talent to the point the board of trustees granted me an opportunity to become now the longest reigning Silver State Champion. What has Madison Carter done? Nothing. She hasn’t been in the main event until she latched herself onto the Aces which means the Kingdom hasn’t even done anything for her prior to us giving her attention she doesn’t deserve. Madison is a woman who can’t move past the glass ceiling yet here I am at the top of the tower looking down on her knowing she’ll never evolve. She doesn’t have it in her and I’m sick of her making lies in the public’s view that she does.
Michael: Now Kevin, you recently riled up a few when after this match was announced, you put out a tweet asking Amber to give you a call.
Kevin: Yeah, well there’s a reason for that. Amber and I get along pretty well. We have no ill will towards each other. That’s why I gave her and Serenity what they both wanted back at my birthday show on October 16th and let them fight it out and put them in the main event. Hell, when I first met her, she tried to get me to go back to her room with her that night. I didn’t go but we have no issues between us, but as you heard from Serenity, that is most certainly not the case between them.
Serenity: She tried to do what?! Oh! Oh, okay! Really Amber? You don’t know when to quit because I swear to God, the next time I see you, I will break every bone in your body! I don’t know what game you’re playing but I’ll be damned if I let you even come close to him like that!
Michael: Sounds like Serenity has a whole lot of new reasons to want to get her hands on Amber at the anniversary show.
Serenity: Oh, I will. I definitely will. I have so many reasons just to even spit on her face but when it comes to professional wrestling, there’s nothing I can do to make her bite her tongue and wish she never met me. Amber Mansley won’t admit it but she knows I’m ten times the wrestler she’ll ever be and it kills her inside.
Michael: So does that mean you have some kind of plan with her after this phone call?
Kevin: There’s no plan on that end. The whole conversation was just to see where her head was at. We are heading into this tag match treating it like it was any other tag match. There’s no chance Serenity would do anything together with Amber, as you’ve probably worked out already. And I already went through this with her and Summer, I have no desire to do it again. Summer’s facing Jace that night, and that’ll be his toughest challenge yet if we don’t count his losses to Donovan and myself. Summer knows what it’s like to make history, she’s been on top of the mountain in Uprising. Not that she needs it but if she wants a little strategy session before she gets there, she knows my number. Just like every person whose opinion matters to me, they all have my number. If they don’t have it, their opinion is irrelevant to me.
Michael: Serenity, is there any chance for reconciliation with Amber the same way you have done recently with Summer Page of the Aces?
Serenity: Over. My. Dead. Body.
Kevin: Sounds pretty definitive to me, Michael. Look at the Aces top to bottom. You got us two obviously. You have a veteran like Talia who has experience and knowledge for days, I always learn something from her. Former tag team champion until her partner became lazy. There’s Summer, a former Uprising World Champion like I had just said. They used to really hold her in high regard too, but that’s probably changed as well out of the blue. What does the Kingdom have? One title, and it’s only the newest addition to the group that has it because the others can’t string three wins together anymore to get close enough to earn a shot unless it’s contractual rematches. I’m looking forward to the anniversary show. I’ve never gotten to team with Serenity before. This will be the first time we’ve been paired up, it’s usually us facing each other. I think that’s an unstoppable pairing right there.
Serenity: You have the World Champion and the Silver State Champion representing The Aces against The Kingdom’s After-Thot, Madison Carter and my living stalker, Amber Mansley. Those two can’t even stand each other when you have myself and Kevin on the same page for this match simply because we’ve had enough of hearing them talk. People seemed to forget who really runs UPRISING and are getting a little too comfortable now. It’s time to put everyone on notice.
Michael: Fans, make sure you tune into the anniversary show this coming Wednesday night for the card from Uprising as they return to the Silver State Ballroom here in Reno. Thank you both for calling in today, and we’ll be right back after these messages from our sponsors.
Kevin: Thanks for having us, Michael. You forgot to mention we’re also half of the Aces, the company’s most successful faction and it’s not even particularly close.
