Inside The Kingdom wrestling school and training facility, we find the UPRISING World Champion, Samantha Tolson, hard at work on the bench press. There is a fair amount of weight on the dumbbell that Sam is pressing up and down religiously. Spotting her, or rather pacing back and forth in front of the bench is Jace Parker Davidson. The former undefeated UPRISING star can be seen speaking out loud with a frustrated look on his face.
“Five foot eight inches and one hundred seventy-five pounds,” Jace says out loud as he turns around and begins pacing in the other direction. “Five foot eight inches and one hundred seventy-five pounds!” He says it even louder this time as Samantha stays focused on the task at hand.
“How?” He asks out loud. “How the fuck did I let him rope me in with that mutual respect bullshit?!” A growl escapes from the pit of Davidson’s stomach. “He’s five foot eight inches tall and not even two hundred pounds soaking wet!”
Samantha growls in her own right as she places the bar back in its resting place. She sits upright on the bench and grabs a hold of a towel. "I'm five foot eight and around a buck-sixty." Samantha wiped off her face with the towel. "And before you even bring it up, yes, I'm a woman. Still doesn't matter, love."
“In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t.” He protests before finally standing still in one spot. “It’s the fact that I let someone that isn’t even big enough to get a decent date with a woman who looks half as good as you do, fucking get one over on me.” His fists clenched tightly as he chewed on the inside of his cheek. “I know he’s talented, but he’s not THAT talented. I let the respect thing go over when I should have just bulldozered the pint-sized fucker.”
Samantha stands and walks over to Jace, tossing the towel behind his neck. She uses it to pull him down for a quick kiss, smiling softly. "I love you, and don't get mad at me for saying this…but you're saying exactly the same things I fight in my own head after every single loss. Just know I've been where you are, and will be again, and I understand the feeling all too well."
Jace shakes his head and sighs. He knows she’s absolutely right but in the moment he doesn’t want to accept the truth of the matter.
“He’s a smug little fucker.” Jace commented. “Did you listen to what he had to say? All that shit about getting Kat to get him the contract that he wanted and a written guaranteed title shot. It’s all about money and privilege with that guy.” His brow narrows a bit. “And the shit about getting to team up for the first time with a tag team specialist like Talia Skye? Who is he kidding? We’ve both excelled as tag team wrestlers in our careers and he’s thumping his chest about Talia?”
A laugh escapes Jace for the first time.
“The girl that couldn’t even win a match in her own home country? The girl that’s the third wheel in The Aces that he would jettison the moment someone worthwhile came along? I know it’s a leader’s job to promote those he works with but that is just brutal.”
Samantha chuckles softly, walking back to the bench, lying down on it for another set. "I'd venture that Talia would be no more than the spare tire if he had more Aces. The Jack of all trades, so to speak, but with no clear mastery of any of them." Samantha grabs the bar and grunts softly, rhythmically going through the exercise again.
“Spare Tire might be giving her too much credit at this point.” Jace thought. “She’s more like the stray cat that Mears collected off of his back porch and decided to shelter. She was a Unity Champion but they lost those belts to the dumbass MM bitches. Since her posse got the hell out of dodge, Talia has been nothing but an anchor holding down the Aces.”
Jace looked down at Samantha as she continued to lift the weight.
“And then Kevin, now that I’ve gotten over the like and respect thing for the guy. I’m really starting to see his true colors. Why would he need a guaranteed title shot? What has he done to warrant that? Oh, because he was the longest-reigning Silver State Champion? So what? He practically killed all the prestige he put into that title by handing it off to the current girl that has decided to touch his penis.” Jace pauses. “No offense, I know that’s your niece and all.”
Samantha grunts out her response in between motions. "None… taken…”
Jace wipes his forehead a little. “The whole thing is a shitshow, The Aces.” Jace scoffs. “How hard is it to find four people for a stable? We have four people and we’re doing just fine. Didn’t they have that Vega chick that showed up and did like literally nothing before they kicked her out? Not the current Vega chick but the other one…”
Samantha notches the bar and sits up. "Not sure. If I'm honest, aside from Kevin and Serenity, I really haven't paid attention."
“You haven’t missed anything at all,” Jace admitted. “The important is that on Revolution we get to team up again. We get Mears and Talia in the main event. That means I get to soften up Mears because he even thinks about stepping into the ring against you with the title on the line.”
"Jace, honey." Samantha draws in a deep breath and grins. "Kevin wants this reaction from you because he thinks he'll get in my head by seeing it. All he's truly done is make both of us wise to his game. I know he wants the World Championship, and I know that, most likely, Kat managed to get him a contracted opportunity. The thing he never planned for was for me to be the champion when he got that chance."
Samantha stands and walks to Jace, looking up in his eye. "What Kevin also doesn't understand is that I have zero intention of letting him take it from me. He can bring a deck of Aces to ringside if he wants. He's no different than Mosh, no different than Vilaro, and as such I will hold onto the championship by any means I deem necessary. He should've made notes when I bashed his ex's skull in with the belt. I'm not here to play nice any longer. I'm playing for keeps, and I intend on not only having the longest World Title reign, but the longest reign in UPRISING, period."
“Is that so?” He questioned with a hint of a smirk on his lips. “His title shot is guaranteed, it’s in writing. Surely, that means he’s not going to fumble the bag when it times to step in the ring against you.” The sarcasm in his voice was obvious. “Actually, I feel sorry for Kat, having to deal with all the bullshit he asked for in that contract. The guy rolls around posting a selfie literally every single day just about. Calling himself Quadzilla.” Jace shakes his head. “What he needs to do is find himself some platform shoes that maybe he won’t be staring at me, eyes to belly button in the ring.”
Samantha giggles softly, nestling up to Jace. "Hopefully she didn't get the green M&M's in his locker room. All I ever asked for was a place to change and shower. The rest I've earned without a single guarantee."
“Likewise, you earn it by running through the competition. Not just because you held one belt, think your shit doesn’t stink, and decide that you’re the top dog when you’ve yet to face the true killers on this roster.” Jace wraps his arms around Sam. “What sounds better, targeting Mears in the match and taking out his legs so that he can’t fly around like a goddamn gnat, or singling out Talia and watching Mears go through the motions in the corner helpless?”
Samantha settles into Jace's arms, smiling almost evilly. "I do love swatting gnats. Or, more to the point, suplexing them until they no longer buzz about. But, I think Talia needs to understand she's no Ace since I'm not sure she deals with a full deck. Leaving him to watch, helpless, as we dissect Talia seems like a proper way to go about this match."
“So, we make him watch Talia lose the match for his Aces and then we beat him down post-match?” There was a hopeful, almost gleeful tone to his voice. “You don’t have to answer that, I already know what we need to do.” Jace reaches down and smacks Samantha on the butt. “AAre you good to get some cardio in now? I need to hit the treadmills if I’m going to keep up with the child-sized wrestlers that line this roster.”
Samantha's evil smile turns softer as she runs her hands up and down his arms. "I can certainly think of ways to work on your cardio, my love. Get your heart rate up and everything." She leans up and kisses him tenderly, pressing tighter to him as she does.
“I like those ways of getting the blood flowing.” He said before grabbing hold of her by the waist. “However, work before play. And aren’t you the one that had the no funny business in the gym rule, to begin with?”
"Fine…" Samantha rolls her eyes playfully. "Legit cardio, then fun cardio. And that rule, dear, is only for my home gyms…" She winks at him, wrapping her arms behind his shoulders and leaning up to whisper to him. "... I've never said not in ANY gym."
Jace laughs and then lifts Sam off of her feet and over his shoulder. He carries over toward the treadmills as the scene fades.

Am I psychic or just good at predicting things before they happen? I said that now that Kevin Mears has gotten one over me that it means I can take it out on him before he meets Samantha Tolson for the UPRISING World Championship belt.
Then the Revolution 8 card gets posted and in the main event, it’s Samantha and yours truly vs. Mears and Talia Skye. In back-to-back shows, I get to step inside the ring with the so-called Original Ace himself. Saying that I am excited about this match would be an understatement. I told you that you had a full-blown war between The Kingdom and The Aces on your hands and here we are.
You’re in the main event against yours truly and the UPRISING World Champion. And all that you have watching your back is Talia Skye. Since of course, Serenity will have her hands full teaming with Madison to take on the lackluster Unity Champions at Revolution. What are you going to do, Kevin? Are you going to scramble around and finally find that 4th Ace to spring on us in Reno? Are you going to put Talia Skye through the wringer until you squeeze the small ounces of talent that she has left in that hollow shell?
Or are you going to keep the status quo?
Are you going to trot out here preaching about how you and Talia both are up to the challenge? Will you keep talking up Talia like she isn’t the weak link in this entire match? All the pretty words and pep talks in the world aren’t going to prepare her for this Kevin, and you know it. The words escape your lips robotic and scripted but the look in your eyes tells the entire story. I know what is rolling around in your head in this match.
You’re going to try and shine. You’re going to try and do a bulk of this on your own and that way Talia has less of a chance to fuck it up for you. And in a perfect world, you get to fight Samantha in the ring instead of me. That way you can do some damage and rough her up a bit before the match at Solstice III. The win isn’t as important for you as long as you get to make sure Samantha doesn’t want into that match 100%. I mean you have your little guaranteed title shot and all in your back pocket.
And if it was almost anyone but me as Samantha’s partner, that plan might just work but luck isn’t always on your side, Kevin. You see not only have I got an itch to exact some revenge for what you pulled at Vertigo. I’m also very fond of the idea of protecting Samantha against you and your Aces for the rest of this season of UPRISING.
Sadly, Kevin, you just don’t measure up to the task at hand. Especially not with Talia in your corner at Revolution.
Don’t take it the wrong way, Talia. I have nothing against you more than the company that you choose to keep but facts are facts. I know you’re probably out there training your little heart out for this match. You probably have visions of having this great bounce match and stamping your name on the UPRISING map as a main event-worthy talent.
Nothing but mere pipe dreams from a little girl that’s old enough to know better.
What you need to do is write up a proper apology to Madison for all the bullshit you’ve talked over the past weeks about her. You need to be literally fucking punished for even considering co-signing something said by Melody Slayton and ever saying that she would be the real match over Madison.
You’ve been in UPRISING for how long? You’ve been in this business longer than Crystal Caldwell’s tits hang to her knees.
You believed your own fucking hype and you got, got, by Madison.
So, what is the move now? You come out to the ring at Revolution and you suddenly wrestle the match of your life after getting embarrassed in your home country? At your age, Talia, you know better than anyone that you can’t just flip that switch. For Kevin, this match isn’t a must-win situation but for you it’s everything.
How is going to look for you if you get pinned in this match against Samantha and me? That’s back-to-back L’s for you. Especially, when Mears has already ended my undefeated streak and got himself a World Championship match. And Serenity will more than likely win back-to-back matches and still have the Silver State Championship in her possession.
Is it starting to sink in?
Do you see now that all the times you’ve been called the third wheel or the weak link in The Aces is more fact than it is trash talk? Given your track record since losing the Unity titles, I would be highly doubtful to allow you to call yourself an Ace of anything.
Hell, you brought in a Jack that Kevin himself wouldn’t allow to be an Ace. If that doesn’t show you the expiration date on your welcome in that group then I am not sure what will. Kevin and Serenity both are succeeding. You can nitpick that until the cows come home but the fact is that they are and you’re just there. Nothing but a warm body to turn what is essentially a tag team into a stable.
I mean they are always walking about what you’ve done before, the past tense. What do they have to brag about you doing in the present tense? What is your noteworthy win since joining the Aces? Complaining about the way Madison beat you in a tag team match only to turn around and copy that very tactic?
Donovan Basch has done something more impressive than that lately in UPRISING and he’s only had one match so far. The problem for you, Talia, is that no one will ever mistake an anchor for a life preserver.
You’re going to be what holds Kevin back in this match. Fuck, you couldn’t even bother to show up when he was making his comments about what happened and this match. You will live out your usefulness and eventually, someone will fall for Kevin’s used car salesman act and decide that they want to be an Ace.
Then it’s back to obscurity you go.
And as far as you go, Mr. Mears. You might be riding high now. You might have had someone write you into the main event of Solstice III but just because the future looks bright for you. There is always darkness lurking. And in the darkness is where people like me do our best work. Original Ace or not, you’ll have to play with the hand dealt to you heading into the finale of this season.
Trust me… you will fold.
“Five foot eight inches and one hundred seventy-five pounds,” Jace says out loud as he turns around and begins pacing in the other direction. “Five foot eight inches and one hundred seventy-five pounds!” He says it even louder this time as Samantha stays focused on the task at hand.
