The night before her two out of three submissions match for HGK, Kevin had made a trip out to LA to see the match, especially after HGK offered him a prime seat in the front row to see the show. He and Uprising’s Silver State Champion had already checked into their hotel room, and while she was finishing up a shower, he had gone down to the hotel bar and gotten himself a whiskey as he sat at the bar. It wasn’t long before he noticed a familiar face that he’d seen on Twitter and heard Serenity mention: a blonde bombshell named Amber.
Amber was seated alone at a table being served a high-quality tequila drink and looked over to Kevin at the bar taking refuge. She leaned back against the chair with her legs crossed, sporting her Jimmy Choo sparkling silver heels and fluffed her curly blonde golden hair strands behind her right ear. Amber picked up her Berkin purse and walked over sporting a tight black dress before sitting next to Kevin, smiling at the young man.
Amber: “So, you must be Kevin Mears.”
She spoke with a soft tone, a rather unfamiliar tone from people’s past interactions with her but Amber wanted to make a decent first impression.
Amber: “I take it you already know who I am.”
Kevin: “I absolutely do. We follow each other on Twitter. You can relax, I’m not going to talk shit to you or anything like that. It’s good to meet you.”
He tells her with a nod and smile before offering her a handshake.
Kevin: “You remind me of someone I know very well, so I can’t be mad about that.”
She was obviously delighted by his composure, respect and welcoming presence. Tiffany placed her right hand upwards into his, gently making a posh handshake before leaning back in the chair keeping her greenish eyes on his.
Amber: “Well, I assure there’s no one like me.”
She took a sip of her drink.
Amber: “I take it you must be in town to show support to your friend but clearly a man of your stature should be around better people. It’s not every day you meet someone who knows the definition of elite. We’re surrounded by idiots and fools every day that they have no idea the influence we have. It’s a sad world we’re living in my dear.”
Her demeanor made him smile. He loved the confidence, he always did find that a wonderful thing in other people, especially women.
Kevin: “I appreciate that. You’re right, I am here to see Serenity’s match tomorrow night against the guy obsessed with boxes, Harry. I dig the confidence you have, it’s a major turn off for a lot of people, but that’s because most of them don’t like women who know their own worth. They find it intimidating, which is why you get a lot of the flack you get on Twitter. But like I said, I like to see it. You be you, doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks as long as you’re happy.”
Amber’s eyebrows flared up and she was extremely impressed by Kevin’s confidence yet wisdom on such matters. She gently stroked the top of her crystal glass and chuckled from his persona. The connection between the two was growing but she couldn’t help make a small side-eye to the mention of Serenity Holmes. She cleared her throat and looked at him with a more passionate expression.
Amber: “Tell me, why has Serenity interested you?”
Kevin: “When I met her last summer after joining Uprising, she was the first one to come up to me and meet me. There really wasn’t anyone else who gave me the time of day for a while, not till I proved myself more. She was with another guy at the time, same as me being involved with another girl. So we kinda leaned on each other. She’d come to me when something was bothering her, vice versa. When she and her dude had issues, I was there for her. When I broke up with my ex, she was there too. Basically she proved herself to me that she was going to be there through thick and thin…and I think I proved the same to her. Does that make sense?”
He asked before finishing off his whiskey, and got the bartender’s attention before she came back to refill his glass. Kevin slid her his black American Express to pay for it.
Kevin: “I’ll cover her tab tonight too.”
He told the bartendress as he nodded towards Amber before returning his attention to her. Amber looked away, rolling her eyes in a playful manner towards the kind gesture and gently rest her arm on the counter edge staring at him. She nodded and found the relationship between the two quite interesting before leaning in closer.
Amber: “You’re a gentleman. Serenity is very lucky to have you. She’s a young girl and she’s going through a lot. I hope you make her happy because she’s not worthy of a man such as yourself. You’re what most men could never be and honestly, you deserve to be with a real woman. I don’t mean the slums like Summer Page who clearly doesn’t know anything.”
She looks away for a moment then returns the gaze before stroking her finger on his hand.
Amber: “I think you deserve everything you work for and-”
Serenity: “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???!!!”
The loud outburst disrupted the peaceful atmosphere of the hotel’s bar immediately drawing attention from the customers and staff, all eyes on Serenity Holmes who walked past the hostess area to see Amber Mansley trying to flirt with Kevin. Her hazel eyes boiling with fire and she fluffs her leather jacket before marching in her high black converses on a warpath to Amber who doesn’t shift from her seat at all.
Serenity: “What the hell are you doing here Amber?!”
Amber: “I’m here having a simple conversation, Serenity, especially with this lovely young man.”
Amber raises her drink to Kevin and takes a sip but Serenity bows her head with her eyes fixated on Amber.
Kevin: “It’s all good. She was just chatting with me. I didn’t even know she was in town.”
He tells Serenity and pulls out a seat for her to join them.
Kevin: “Everything is fine, I promise. Good shower?”
He asked her, trying to soothe her short fuse. He’d seen what happens when she lost it before, and didn’t want any incidents at the bar if he could help it. Serenity didn’t want to cause a scene but her emotions were getting the better of her due to the history between her and Amber. Amber, on the other hand, remained poised as she crossed her legs and held her drink in her hand staring down Serenity as her superior.
Serenity: “Yes, great shower. If I knew she was here, I would have taken a second one to avoid the trashy perfume. What are you doing here Amber? What? Jake Paul invited you to his house for a one night stand?”
Amber rolled her eyes.
Amber: “Oh Serenity, always so brash. I came here because I am meeting an old friend but I was so enjoying Kevin’s company that how could I have forgotten you were with him?”
Serenity: “I bet…”
Amber: “Anyways, you have nothing to worry from little ol’ me. I am simply here because I am just doing business. I’m pretty sure you can respect that.”
Serenity: “The only thing I respect is you understanding that you’re talking to my boyfriend.”
Kevin’s eyes widened at that, clearly not expecting it. If he could have made the surprised Pikachu meme face at this point, he would have.
Kevin: “Who knew?!”
Then he started to smile.
Kevin: “That must have been a great shower.”
He was still clearly amused.
Kevin: “Though I did have a feeling that was the case for a while. But I hate to assume, you know.”
Serenity smiled at him and stood at his side clutching his arm in front of Amber who had shown a nastier side between all three directly towards Serenity. She grabbed her purse and stood up having the height advantage but Serenity never backed down.
Amber: “Congratulations on the relationship, Serenity and Kevin, I’m sure you’ll both last forever. See you around little Seren.”
She turned on her heels and walked away but Serenity’s right eye twitched from the nickname Amber used during their time together at the academy. Serenity took a deep breath and turned around to look at Kevin regaining her composure before holding onto him again.
Serenity: “Listen babe, I know she seems nice but she’s a cunning person with ulterior motives. She’ll only butter up to people when she wants something so just be careful around her. She thinks she’s smart but honestly, she’s dumber to the point I wonder if the hair gel is messing with her intelligence.”
Kevin: “I wouldn’t let it worry me. I have nothing I can give her that would help her career. I can’t get her title matches or bookings. So if she has something else beyond that in mind, I’d be curious to learn what it was. Besides…”
He turned towards her and slid both arms around her waist and smiled at her.
Kevin: “I found out tonight I have a girlfriend again.”
He couldn’t say it without grinning, obviously aware long before now.
Kevin: “Long story short, I’ll be friendly with her because I was like that once upon a time long ago. But as far as anything else….I think that’s going to be a Serenity exclusive kinda deal. But if she tries anything, I’ll let you know. Okay?”
Serenity held onto him tightly and kissed his neck.
Serenity: “Okay. Come back to the room with me, I wanna cuddle.”
After getting his American Express card back from the bartendress, he did just that and followed her back to their room.
