It was the morning after Revolution 7, the night where two thirds of the Aces faced off with two thirds of the Kingdom. The same night where outside interference ensured that Jace and Madison got the win as they faced off against Talia and Serenity. As we join them now, both Kevin and Talia are finishing off what looked to be a delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant. And as Kevin wiped his mouth with a napkin, he began to speak.
“I know I said it last night, but I’m sorry I wasn’t in the match with you two last night. But with all the contract negotiations that were going to happen after the show, it didn’t make sense to work a whole match for free right before that. It would have set the wrong tone, you know?” He explained. “I was able to get it turned into 2 on 2 though, because it sounded like Jace was happy for it to be a handicap match on Twitter.”
Talia nodded at his assumption. “Of course he did. It practically ended up being one anyways didn’t it? Not your fault though. You had to make sure you even had a contract…. And you still did what you could to make sure the playing field was even. Unfortunately they didn’t want to play that game.”
She paused, clearly some frustration still present on her face. “Still just pissed. They pulled one over on me… on us. That doesn’t sit well with me. Honestly I’ve been seething about it. But anger won’t get me anywhere. Can’t waste my energy getting angry. I’d rather use it getting even.”
“I don’t think you’ll have to wait long. That’s one thing that Jax told me during the meeting after the show last night. He’s putting you and Serenity in there at Unleashed against Madison and Sally. So you won’t have to wait long.” Kevin assured her.
Talia’s face cracked into a smirk and her eyebrows raised in interest. “Bad for them. Better for us. Unfortunate for Madison and Sally though. Serenity is furious. She’s ready to explode. I’m pretty close myself. Those two wretches are really going to make great punching bags.”
“That’s one of the things I wanted to talk with you about. When you’ve achieved the levels of success that you and I and Serenity have, it tends to breed a lot of jealousy. And I have a feeling this is just the start of that for all of us. After all, look at where we all are on the card more often than not. Look at Amy Santino, for example. She’s been running her mouth a lot…and without any kind of reason to back it up. There’s Melody Slayton, she’s already sniffing around the title again now that I don’t have it. It’s like they all think Serenity is a weak champion waiting to be plucked.” Kevin shook his head just thinking about it. “And when there’s a problem for one of us, it’s a problem for all of us.”
“I’ve noticed. Success breeds contempt. And you’re right there’s specifically a lot of underestimation directed at Serenity. People think that the Aces aren’t the force we know we are. They think they can treat us like easy targets. I don’t appreciate being treated like prey waiting to be hunted.” Talia ranted, some fire in her voice. “So now we have to solve our problems. Hunt the hunters if you will.”
“We’re on the same wavelength.” He agreed. “But one thing I did like was how well you two worked together last night. For a team that never had a match before last night, you two had it all well in hand. Great timing, continuity, chemistry. It was clicking on all levels. Depending on how she feels about it, I’d go so far as to say that Serenity would be an excellent tag partner going forward. Certainly better than Reyna. I think you two could take the Manor and reclaim the titles.”
“I don’t disagree with you. Serenity is a phenomenon. To be as young as she is and already be so dominant? Everyone else WISHES they could be on her level. Tagging with her was incredible. She has a fresh perspective. She looks for new ways to innovate. But she also listens. A lot of the younger people in this business think they have it all figured out. They think that the veterans are memories, fading away. Not Serenity though. She really seemed to value my wisdom and experience.” A proud smile radiated from Talia’s face. “I think that combination of youthful ingenuity with veteran wisdom… we can burn the Manor down. Add that to the list of problems to solve.”
Once more, he was in full agreement and was nodding along as she spoke. “If last night taught me anything, it’s that the rules are off with everyone here. That’s cool with me. I think we can all play on that level. So while you two see about possibly getting a tag title match down the line, we make sure the Silver State title stays in the family…so to speak. Same with the tag titles whenever you two win them. And definitely if I ever get my world title shot against either Samantha or Summer. The ultimate goal here is we hold and control all three titles in this company.”
“Absolutely. Pure dominance. Raise that gold standard even higher. Serenity.. I’m not worried about, she has a lock on that title. Once we clear Madison and Sally out of the way we will zero in on those Unity championships. And you? I’m not worried at all. That World Title feels inevitable for you Kev.” She stated matter of factly. “But as I said… once we clear the obstacles in our way. You’re right we can play on that level. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve had to cross lines. They’ll see soon enough that pissing off the Ace of Spades is the most dangerous decision they could ever make.”
Kevin retrieved his wallet from his pocket, and left cash on the table with a generous tip before he got up from his seat. “Before I have to get ready for my flight to go face Summer in the XWF, come with me. I want to show you something.” He asked before pulling her chair out for her. She stood up and joined him as they headed out of the restaurant.
