Mondays were largely unremarkable for Kevin, at least the ones not at the end of the month when he usually had a booking in the XWF. This one was about to change that though. As he printed out shipping labels for merch orders placed through his website, he heard a knocking at the door. He quickly headed towards it and peeked through the peephole since he wasn’t expecting anyone. It was his sister, Amanda.
Amanda was a slim woman 4 years younger than him with chocolate brown hair. That wasn’t her natural color, but she apparently liked it better than the shade of blonde she had normally. She had just recently moved to Trenton, New Jersey with her new boyfriend. It was only about 90 miles from him in Atlantic City, a hour and a half drive if you caught the lights just right. She wasn’t one to drop in unannounced, but he didn’t mind seeing her at all.
He pulled the door open for her, and her mascara was a mess. “I don’t think the raccoon look is working for you, sis.” He told her with a grin before she walked into his arms and hugged herself to him. Kevin had no idea what was wrong, but now wasn’t the time for humor. “Hey…what’s wrong?”
“I just….can…” She was having trouble putting her words together at the moment, and he could feel her shaking as he hugged her. And when his hands touched her back, she seized up for a moment as though he had electrocuted her. “Can I….stay here for a little while?”
“Of course. What’s going on?” He asked in a much softer tone. He was starting to put two and two together, and he was beginning to get very angry, though he kept it to himself the best he could. “What happened to you? You gotta tell me.”
“I…I don’t want anyone to know about it.” SHe said in a whisper.
“I’m not going to tell anyone, I promise. It’s between you and me, I won’t even mention it to any of our relatives.” He walked her towards the kitchen of his suite, and watched as she took a seat on one of the bar stools. “Please tell me. Were you in an accident?” He was beginning to run through all the possibilities before he was ready to jump to the conclusion he assumed it was. She shook her head at the question. “Run into something?” Another shake of her head. He could feel his blood pressure rising as he got to the next one. “Was it….Brett?”
Brett was the new boyfriend she had moved in with when she came to Trenton. He had never met the guy, but he tended not to meet the guys she dated. He’d seen a couple pictures of him on her Instagram though.
“Did Brett do this to you?” He asked again, but didn’t get a straight answer as she was starting to break down again. He moved around the counter and very gently placed his hands on her arms. “You don’t have to talk right now. You can go watch TV or take a bath or whatever you want. Help yourself to anything, okay?” She nodded her head and headed into the bathroom before closing the door behind her.
Amanda sat down on the edge of the tub, trying to pull herself together. Her mind raced as she tried to figure out what she had done to cause this to happen to her. The answers weren’t coming. She reached forward to turn on the warm water faucet and didn’t see any clean towels. She got back to her feet and went back out of the bathroom to find Kevin.
“Hey…where are the towels?” She asked. To no one.
“Kevin?”

A little under 2 hours later…
The drive to Trenton took far longer than Kevin would have liked, and the whole time as he drove, he was getting angrier. His cell phone started vibrating, and it was from Amanda. He knew what she was going to say to him, but that wasn’t going to happen. Not now. Not after this. When he pulled up to her apartment building, he jumped out of the car and headed to the second floor. Her apartment was 219, and he couldn’t get to it fast enough.
He wanted Brett to let him in. And he knew if he came to the door seeing Kevin’s actual expression that he wasn’t likely to get inside. He also made sure to cover the peephole with his thumb. When the door opened, Brett peered through the crack before Kevin slammed into it and sent him backwards. He shut the door behind him and put the chain on the door. “What he fuck?! What do you think you’re doing?!”
Kevin shook his head. “I know we haven’t met before, but I’m Kevin. Amanda’s big brother. And I want you to tell me—Fuck it!” He glanced away with a shake of his head, and turned back to slug Brett in the mouth. He sent the man stumbling backwards before Kevin decked him again before grabbing him by the head and slamming his face into the wall. Repeatedly until he fell to a slump against the floor, blood pouring from his mouth and nose as he held up his hand. Kevin slapped it away.
“I didn’t mean to-” Brett didn’t get to finish what he was saying for getting a knee to the face that sent him to the floor on his back now.
“I’m giving you 24 hours to get your shit out of this apartment. All of it. Because I’m going to be coming back. And when I do and you’re still here, we’re gonna pick up where we left off. You don’t touch anything of hers, do you understand me, you piece of shit?! You leave everything she has just as it is right now, and you get the fuck out of here. And you don’t come back. I have friends in this city who will be dropping by. And if they see you back here…it’ll only be once. Am I clear? AM I FUCKING CLEAR?!” Brett nodded weakly from the floor as Kevin spotted the keys that had fallen out of his pocket. “Which one of these is the key to this apartment?” He held up one at a time before Brett signaled he had the right one. Kevin took it from the keyring and shoved it into his pocket. “24 hours!” He turned back towards the door until he heard Brett starting to get up. Kevin turned back around and punted him in the head, stopping that and dropping him unconscious ot the floor before he turned back around and left, making sure to lock the door behind him.
