LIVE FROM THE SILVER STATE BALLROOM at the historic ELDORADO CASINO in RENO, NV MAY 27, 2023 |
INT. SILVER STATE BALLROOM — BACKSTAGE.
The camera operator is following a man completely new to the UPRISING audience. He’s in his fifties, with feathery, silver hair. His suit looks expensive and he carries himself like a wealthy person who’s never had a care in his life. A black leather briefcase is gripped in his right hand, swaying slightly with his gaited walk. He extends his left arm out, causing the sleeve to pull back, revealing a gold Rolex. He checks the time before looking back at the camera with dark green eyes. His face is smooth with subtle creases along his forehead, and a neatly trimmed goatee frames his thin lips.
UNKNOWN
Are we live? I’ve never been on television before. Is my hair okay? I should have gone to the barber first.
The operator sticks his hand forward into frame and gives a thumbs up. The unknown man shuffles around as they approach a locker room with O N E P E R C E N T embossed on the door. With his left hand, he knocks twice on the door before pushing it open.
Chris sits up in his chair as he looks at the guy pretty angrily while Juliana barely pays him any attention. Emma shoots a glare at him while focusing on her pre-match workout, using a resistance band to do some curls. The silver-haired man clears his throat while smoothing down the front of his suit. He looks around the room with a smile, making a particular point to look directly at Chris Mosh before swinging his eyes around, looking for someone else.
UNKNOWN
Where’s Summer?
EMMA COUTURE
She’s not here.
The older man tilts his head down to look at the three of them over his reading glasses, like a disappointed dad.
MYSTERY MAN
Why not?
Everyone shrugs their shoulders.
MOSH
She is crying over me walking out on her. She doesn’t trust anyone in this group now and doesn’t really care what Mari wants. I tried to get her to apologize because we are the One Percent, but she is too busy posting pictures of herself or whatever she wants. As you can see, I have been training to prove why I’m the One Percent of the One Percent. The question I have is what does that have to do with you?
UNKNOWN
To your point, Mr. Mosh, let me first say thank you for meeting me. I know you were expecting Marisol to be with us, and she sends her regards, but unfortunately she wasn’t feeling well, and in the light of recent developments, I think that is understandable.
MOSH
Who in the blue Hell are you to walk into our locker room? You don’t see me walking into your place of work without notice.
Chris relaxes, already in his ring gear as he lounges at the table in the middle of the room, his feet up on the chair across from him.
MOSH
If you could leave, that would be great. We are waiting for someone to show up.
Chris looks over at Juliana and Emma.
MOSH
Where is Mari anyways? She won’t answer my calls and you two are so buddy-buddy with her?
JULIANA MENDOZA
She is taking some much needed personal time. After that little witch managed to steal a victory from her at Equinox, Summer pulled her crap, you lost the World title, and she found out the truth about Jackson, she was feeling a little overwhelmed.
EMMA COUTURE
Though we do know you were screwed in the title match. Still, all of that just had her in a bad place. Maybe if you would have called her sooner, she would have answered, but I can’t speak for her.
The unknown man raises a hand, urging them to quiet down and give him the floor. He walks over to an unused bench where he sits down his briefcase. As he speaks, he opens the top flat and opens it like an accordion.
UNKNOWN
I understand your concerns. First, my name is Edgar Quinlan, Esquire. I am an attorney based out of New Orleans, but I am licensed to practice in Nevada, as well as every other state in the lower forty-eight.
From the briefcase he takes out four manilla folders. After checking the names on the tags, he stuffs one of them back in before looking at them.
QUINLAN
That one is for Summer. I will make sure she receives it before I leave. The rest are for you three. First up, Christopher Mosh.
He hands one of the remaining three folders to Mosh, who quickly begins to look over the top sheet of paper.
MOSH
What do you have to do with Mari or the One Percent?
QUINLAN
I have no association with the One Percent. I am, in fact, retained by the Niels Gram Foundation, also based in New Orleans. You may be aware that recently the foundation, under the direction of the chief executive officer, Yelena Gorgo, made a significant investment in Marisol’s new VilaroFit venture. That brings us to this past Monday, when Ms. Vilaro called Ms. Gorgo with some contractual questions. I was brought onto the call, at which point the Foundation offered my services to Ms. Vilaro.
Chris looks a little confused at first as he reads quickly through the text, but soon the realization of what the documents mean hits him, and he becomes visibly angry.
MOSH
What the hell? Is she really doing this right now?!
QUINLAN
Well, yes. What you see before you is a motion to dissolve your contact with The Vilaro System, LLC, which Ms. Vilaro is able to do because your initial contract includes a clause of termination granting her the right to discharge all obligations and agreements at will, something I would have advised you not to sign, but I digress.
Emma and Juliana both seem a bit shocked at that news. Emma leans over and whispers something to Juliana, but Juliana pats her leg and gives her a sort of, we’ll talk about that later look.
QUINLAN
On the second page you will find a restraining order which binds you from making any statements or performing any actions that may lead a reasonable person to believe you are still a client of Ms. Vilaro and representatives of the Vilaro System, VilaroFit, Ms. Vilaro herself, or any corporation she founds—past, present or future. You will note that both motions have been granted by Judge Janet Carney Croom of the Florida’s Nineteenth Circuit Court in Indiana River County. The camera is with me today to provide a visual record that you have been served the order.
MOSH
This is bullshit! I want to see your license and what are you going to do if I don’t sign this crap?
QUINLAN
You don’t have to sign it, Mr. Mosh. These are court orders. You are, of course, welcome to challenge them in Florida if you wish, as that is your right, though I do not know why you would want to.
MOSH
What about Summer?! And Emma and Juliana?!
QUINLAN
Emma and Juliana are not your concern. As for Summer, her absence at this meeting is proof that my client was correct in her calculations that in order to protect Vilaro System, LLC and VilaroFit, removing both of you is a priority.
MOSH
You son of a bitch!
Juliana leans forward toward Mosh.
JULIANA MENDOZA
You should probably get your lawyer to go over that. I’m sure it’s a bit shocking and we would absolutely love to stay and help you process that information, but Emma does have a match very soon, and obviously I am going to be ringside for my partner.
EMMA COUTURE
Sorry about the news, Mosh…
The lawyer interrupts their exit with a tip of his head out of courtesy.
QUINLAN
Ah, ladies, if you will indulge me. Marisol also directed me to deliver a new contract to each of you.
He offers them the two folders.
MOSH
Oh look, Mari got her two newbies new contracts, but just remember that I’m the only One Percent of this business and you are just replacements of this group, so as far I’m concerned get out of my locker room, so I can get ready to be the Main Event again, like I always am.
Juliana just rolls her eyes and sighs while she gives the new contracts a brief once over while Emma is giving Mosh a death glare.
JULIANA MENDOZA
Obviously we will be having our lawyers look over these and discuss things with Mari, but things appear to be in order. Now if you will excuse us, my partner has a match to prepare for, and our locker room is nicer than this one anyway.
Juliana looks at Mosh with a smirk before she blows him a kiss, extending her middle finger up at the last second. Emma just straight up flips Mosh off, and the pair make their exit.
QUINLAN
For what it’s worth, Mr. Mosh, I am sorry for the abrupt nature of this news. Unless you decide to challenge these orders in court, I must bid you adieu.
The lawyer dips his head before grabbing his briefcase and shuffling out the door. The camera remains behind long enough to capture the anger festering on Mosh’s face.

CUT TO:
INT. THE SILVER STATE BALLROOM -- THE RING
OPENING CONTEST
ARIA vs ELAINA DRAKAEA
It's clear from the opening bell that Elaina is outmatched in virtually every way. Aria starts the match hot with a fast break offense that keeps Elaina on the backfoot. Multiple chops send her back to the ropes before Aria begins to use her educated feet to do more damage. Drakaea gets trapped in the corner before Aria blasts her with multiple kicks before sending her across for the ride. She drops her on the rebound with a handspring back elbow followed by another handspring into a cutter, getting a huge pop from the crowd for her efforts! What a fantastic opening contest so far!
Elaina tries to mount an offense, but Aria overwhelms her again with some well-placed kicks to the body. That’s when she gets more aerial in her offense, connecting from there with a springboard bulldog followed by a lionsault off the ropes. She drops for the cover after that.
ONE!
TWO!
THR-!!
Somehow Elaina gets her shoulder up in time, but it proves to be for naught as Aria delivers her Busaiku knee finisher when Drakaea tries to get up. It's all academic after that when she goes for the pinfall again.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
WINNER (VIA PINFALL): ARIA
Aria seems a little surprised by how easy the match has gone but is all smiles regardless when the referee raises her hand to make it official.
CUT TO:
EXT. SOMEWHERE IN RENO
The cameras open live at a studio in Reno, where a special edition of Spilling The Tea will be taking place; we see Marisol Vilaró dressed in a white sleeveless blouse and purple flared mini skirt from Christian Dior with black Louboutin high-heel pumps. Over it is a small light leather coat; she is on the phone, sounding angrier than usual as the accented Spanish tone can be heard.
MARISOL VILARÓ
I needed the commercial approved yesterday; a few short months are left before the launch of VilaroFit and the Vilarowearable launch. Yelena has her eyes on this. So get with the network and negotiate.
A loud audible sigh could be heard coming from the mouth of the Fitness Guru, and she's already on edge with everything happening around her and to her in general, with the revelation about her past being the hardest to get past.
MARISOL VILARÓ
Okay, get it done; the sooner we get more advertising, the better. Yes, we have already sold Vilarowearables in pre-order; it's why they are on backorder! But this launch will go smoothly, or else GOT IT! Look, I am sorry; life's been rough, okay?
With that, Marisol clicked the button on her iPhone to end the call as she rolls her eyes and hisses with rage, shaking as she says aloud to herself.
MARISOL VILARÓ
UGH, HOW CAN THIS GET ANY GODDAMN WORSE?!
She then curses Catalan loudly, as the cameras soon spot another presence of which Marisol is unaware. Serenity Holmes appears the last person she expected to see, sporting a white tee tucked into her black ripped denim jeans, her signature black Converses, and a studded black hat turned backward. Serenity approaches Marisol with a small smile on her face, digging her hands into the pockets of her black leather jacket, and she has no quarrel with her approaching out of a docile nature.
SERENITY HOLMES
Easy tiger. I didn't come to cause any commotion. I wanted to pay you a civilized visit. I know I'm the last person you want to see, but I believe in leaving everything behind in the ring. I don't have any issues with you now; everything we had, we settled it. I actually came to see how you were doing.
Marisol looks confused; besides a few others, Serenity was among the last people she wanted to see.
MARISOL VILARÓ
You wanted to check on me? Well, honestly, not great, obviously; in fact, it has been rough to think you know everything about yourself or think you do, then bam, you get blinded-sided. The fact it was kept from me for all this time? It makes it ten times worse. But I am surprised you'd even bother to check up on me.
Serenity wasn't sure about meeting with her former rival from UPRISING, but given the circumstances, it was time to put personal feelings aside. She shrugs her shoulders at the statement made by Marisol and rolls her eyes.
SERENITY HOLMES
As much as I didn't want to come, I figured you'd need to hear this. I know what it's like to have your entire world turned upside down when you least expected it. Judging from how you revealed my personal life to the world, many could say this is karma for you, and I could dig the knife deep by rubbing it in your face, but I'm not. I wouldn't wish what I went through for anyone except one person but not you. I don't hate you, Marisol; I didn't really. Was I angry? Yes, but that's in the past. I came to say it isn't the end of the world.
Marisol still looks confused but gulps a bit as she says in a calm but shaky tone.
MARISOL VILARÓ
It might not be, but it doesn't detract from what happened; why would he lie to me?! Why did I have to find out this way? And why on earth are Summer and Chris so focused on their petty shit they can't even bother to make sure I am okay, and yet the woman I just fought with for the better part of a year is here? It is confusing to me, that is all. That's this business in a nutshell, though.
Serenity listened to Marisol's ranting and folded her arms in front of her chest.
SERENITY HOLMES
Congratulations, it's called being on the other end of the stick. Marisol, you've been enjoying the privileges of life that it needed to humble you. What you're going through is what people you've looked down on have gone through daily. Even when you're at your lowest, the people who support you are the ones who have been through what you're going through. It's not about business; everyone lives involved in what we do. Something you need to understand.
Marisol rolls her eyes at the last statement from Holmes.
MARISOL VILARÓ
I built everything I have with my own two hands. Most of them kicked me while I was down, so that is the funny thing to me. But you surprised me. I thought you'd be one of them, you know? Another Jace, you know? Now would be the time to do that. But being lied to for so long is the annoying part of the whole deal.
Serenity nods her head at the thought of kicking her down. She could have done that quickly but folds her arms again and sighs.
SERENITY HOLMES
Yeah, well, I'm human. I may not like you, and I'm still pissed off at what you did to me, but I wouldn't kick someone when they're down. I know what you're feeling, and you should know that too. I won't be like everyone else and revel in someone's pain unless they cross that line with me. Marisol, I'm going to say it.
She sighs and musters up her strength.
SERENITY HOLMES
You were right.
Marisol looks confused, almost shocked that she would say that; those three words, of course, in her mind, she was right, but to hear it now, especially in this state of mind she's in? It is something of a shock to her.
MARISOL VILARÓ
Huh, right on what?
Serenity didn't want to admit it, but it was how she felt during their rivalry. Serenity Holmes had grown so much afterward that she took the time to reflect on their growth from their famous feud in UPRISING. She rolls her eyes again, sighs, and looked Marisol in the eyes after swallowing her pride.
SERENITY HOLMES
You made me a better wrestler, okay? Before I met you, I met a woman named Alice Gemini who made my life a living hell, and she beat me to become women's Champion. She did the same thing you did, she messed with my personal life, and it cost me a lot. You taught me to always keep my composure and never lose myself. Now, I'm the Silver State Champion and moving at a level I've never been before. So yes, you helped me become a better wrestler.
She takes a few steps forward.
SERENITY HOLMES
Now you need to figure out what you want to do. Chris and Summer can fight it out, that's among them, but you need to choose who you are now. Do you want to be the Marisol Vilaro that goes after everyone's throats, or do you use this moment to turn things around and become a better person?
Marisol looked at her in a questioning manner as she says:
MARISOL VILARÓ
As far as Mosh and Page go, they will get their opportunity. I won't be in the way of that. I am just done with this whole thing. Honestly, as far as I am concerned, they can kill each other tonight if it will get it out of their system. I am over their lack of concern or care about what's happening. And as far as you saying that goes.
Marisol swallows a bit of her pride as well.
MARISOL VILARÓ
Thanks, but as far as that goes, I have had to fight since day one with people who just judge me because I came in and wasn't in it to be "a wrestler" or that I didn't value this business tradition and still find most of them to be toxic. Some of them include people you consider family. Again, as far as going for throats, I do what is done to me. But again, of all people, you surprise me the most; I may have misjudged you, and I don't say that lightly.
Serenity keeps her composure, but she smiles for a few seconds.
SERENITY HOLMES
Well, I get that a lot.
She turns around after checking the time on her Apple Watch before heading out to the door. When she stops midway, she looks over her shoulder back to Marisol.
SERENITY HOLMES
You're not alone, Marisol. See you around.
MARISOL VILARÓ
Okay, see you around. And... thanks. Really.

And... thanks. Really.
FADE TO BLACK.
