Natalie Owens sits with Ace Sky for her “ Spilling The Tea “ segment. Ace has a very particular, eccentric voice and speaking style that sounds like an anime/ video game character, he speaks fast and his Texan drawl comes out when he’s excited.
Natalie: Well, you have made quite the name for yourself quickly on twitter. We all know what you posted, but why, just why?
Ace: I have always been an oddity. I just wanted to get a rise out of my opponent and everyone was on my case about “promoting the match.”
I don’t sit down that’s always been issue. As a kid my father likened me to an energizer bunny with the brain of Newton.
Natalie:
Jace has been very insulting towards you on Twitter, is that getting to you?
Ace Sky:
Jace is a legit dangerous threat. This is the challenge I desire and thrive in, however I am not as social media savvy as him because I am not one who spends time on social media, between traveling and training, I don’t have time to tweet and that does sound like a cop-out when you are tweeting with your opponent. I do this to myself, I have nobody to blame for my schedule, this is an addiction, I LOVE wrestling. Since 2020 I have become one of the highest paid and requested free agents, I’m not big into material gain, I really don’t need much, a hammock near a telescope with a yoga mat, that is all I need to get by. In life there is balance, my win and loss record is not as a great, I have always put myself in the most competitive, difficult places. I love to challenge myself, bring on all the odds.
Sure I have big losses recently as trying and failing thrice to win the television champion at CULT, I recently started a tag team with Nick Danger and we became tag champs in Universal Wrestling League. I keep on, keepin’ on .
**Ace raises his arm with the peace sign/bunny fingers taunt**
Natalie: Speaking of your free agency , you signed recently with two more promotions, Wrestle: UK and Canadian Championship Wrestling
Ace Sky: Yes. I left a different promotion recently based in Hollywood California, I was there for like a week , I won in my debut. Unfortunately we have different philosophies on wrestling. I’m a pure wrestler, what we do essentially is combat entertainment, the goal is to be both however each wrestler has a specific way they lean towards the entertainment side and the combat side. What I do style wise is inherently entertaining. My brother Arlo is a pacifist however huge pro wrestling fan and martial arts enthusiast, he got me into Bloodsport, Patrick Swayze with Roadhouse, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan. Some stuff a toddler should not be watching really. From that came The Karate Kid, Mortal Kombat, Spiderman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I went into martial arts. I love Japanese culture, philosophy and martial arts has a connection with Puroresu, Japanese strong style being from Texas, just like it is a hotbed for Football, it is the same for pro wrestling.
The difficult thing is people still live in labels and stereotypes, they think I am just this crazy high-flier based off my size however if you’ve actually seen my shit, I have never been just that, I have always really admired the workhorses in this industry, even though they may be the biggest or most charismatic they have the respect and recognition, that is what I desire, to be regarded at that top level.
I don’t care that I am not known as this superstar, major celebrity, I am the type of wrestler you can send 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future and I’ll be able to hang in the ring as an elite competitor.
Natalie Owens: It is so fascinating your approach to this, you are also quite the spiritual type , how does that all play into this.
Ace Sky: 11 years ago I was really struggling in a depressive state, physically, emotionally. I was fascinated with philosophy and spirituality and began seeking enlightment. Even when I got enlightened and had my spiriutal rebirth it was not just a quick fix, that does not happen.
I wear glasses outside the ring, Elightenment is just like getting a new prescription for your glasses or getting your wind-shield cleaned for your car it helps you see the road better. It is a journey of continunal growth, just like anything in life. With knowledge of any kind that pursuit never stops.
