(Any conversation with her mother is in Catalan but is written in English)
OFF CAMERA/ AFTER THE SHOW BACKSTAGE.
“ WHAT THE HELL?!” Everyone could hear the loud shrill voice of Marisol Vilaro inside the backstage area covered by the residue of the camel meat that Jace Parker Davidson brought in. The irate Fitness Guru was trying to get cleaned off as she was in the locker room alone at the time with a towel covering her after the actions of Jace Paker Davidson. Marisol spoke loudly to herself, clearly upset, tears in her eyes.
Marisol Vilaró: I don’t deserve this?! At all that piece of trash, his hussy of a girlfriend, all of them are dead. Every last one of them, I don’t care, and what was Jax thinking letting them do that? To let them bring that horrible shit into the arena. Stonkmus isn’t even an a-tier brand; it's like an f-tier.
Suddenly, Marisol’s phone rings, and she sees her mother calling. Usually, she’d let go to voicemail for most people. But, it was better to answer the phone when it came to her mother. So the Fitness Queen picked up the phone and answered it.
Marisol Vilaró: Hey, mom, how's it going?
Ms. Vilaró: Hey, it’s been a while. I know you haven’t been home and are busy with your career, but I want to talk to you because I am worried about you; quite frankly, Marisol, I notice some patterns.
Marisol’s heart fell into her chest, and this wasn’t a conversation she wanted or needed to have...
Marisol Vilaró: I am dealing with a bit right now, and well...
Ms. Vilaró: Well, I get that, but I need to have this talk with you, so anyway, when you last flew here, you told me about what happened with you and Cliff, well how about Ricky I haven’t heard much about you two lately and I thought you two would have been a cute couple, and all but I saw on social media that he’s with someone else and that I heard some stuff.
Marisol rolled her eyes; the last thing she wanted to talk about right now was Ricky Rodriguez, her former best friend who she had been close with, formed the Inspired with, and had as one of her biggest supporters.
Marisol Vilaró: Mom, he walked out on me again; this happens with this business always, if you must know. This always seems to happen. I hate it; I am not a wrong person not at all, I do everything for these guys, and this happens; this always happens. No matter what I do, this business is filled with awful people.
There is silence on Ms. Vilaró’s end of the phone as Marsiol can also hear her moving throughout the house. Soon, her mother's voice is heard on the other end again after a few moments.
Ms. Vilaró: Honey, I know how you feel, but maybe you should not be in this business you’re in; honestly, since you started, there seems to have been a change in you. Honestly, I didn’t raise you to act as I have seen you. It’s not my daughter, and it's not who you are even with this company, and as the money has come in, I have seen you change even more; I just don’t want you to end up alone.
Marisol rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t keep this; her mother was watching her and saw as she spoke into the phone.
Marisol Vilaró: Mom, look, I am reacting to my environment. I have been mistreated since day one by people always looking to take advantage of me, and if you watched, you saw what happened to me, right?!
Ms. Vilaró: Yes, but you know two wrongs don’t make a right, and chasing vengeance is going to burn you, and honestly, you have to think about what happens after this, after your business like me and your dad worry about if you're going to have friends, or a family after all this.
Marisol rolled her eyes and was getting increasingly annoyed by the second, as she soon said.
Marisol Vilaró: You don't know what it's like; I get what you're saying, but when it comes to this, it's cutthroat, and I am going to defend myself from stuff like that happening again. I mean, would you have me just accept it?
Ms. Vilaró: I want you to quit chasing vengeance and realize this business you’re in isn’t good for you. I think you should talk to your boss, I’d do it for you, but you’re a grown woman, which is up to you.
Marisol shook her head as she said in a more defiant tone.
Marisol Vilaró: My boss might be one of the only good people in this business; quite frankly, he’s the only one who hasn’t let me down or betrayed me. Jackson is quite a fantastic boss.
Suddenly, the silence returned on the other end; it had been a long pause longer than a typical one, Marisol, confused, said.
Marisol Vilaró: Mom, is everything okay?
Soon, Marisol’s mother answered right away in a shocked tone.
Ms. Vilaró: Jackson? Wait, is your boss who I think he is? Oh..god…
Marisol Vilaró: Whats wrong mom? What do you mean?
All of a sudden, her mother quickly turns and says.
Ms. Vilaró: Nothing, anyway I need to go, just think about what I said, okay? I Love you, Marisol.
Before The Fitness Guru could respond, she heard a click on the other end; her mother had hung up. Marisol was still confused, humiliated, and completely angry about the situation. Why was her mom acting that way about the name of her boss?
