After several revisions, the UPRISING Code of Conduct and Terms of Service have been updated. The current version is dated February 5, 2023. This document was originally pinned in our Discord channel and sought to reign in some of the toxicity and drama that had made its way into UPRISING. As we move into 2023, we have a large stable of players who contribute positively to our game culture. The CoC is here to clarify our rules and expectations that all players will adhere to if they wish to take part in UPRISING.
LEADERSHIP
Currently there is only one staff member. Jax (@darkhorsejax on Twitter) is the booker. She decides the outcomes of matches, what stories are pushed or not pushed, and which players have earned a greater share of time on results and the almighty push players are always in search of. Although UPRISING employs multiple volunteer match writers, Jax gives detailed instructions on what to write and has final approval over what is ultimately posted on the forum.
COMMUNITY LIAISONS AND DISCORD MODERATORS
When the position of Community Liaison was created, it was done so to allow a small number of volunteer players to help shoulder the load for Jax. Community Liaison were meant to help other players with angle ideas, moderate the Discord, and serve as a neutral party between disagreeing players. This is the mission statement of the CLs going forward. If you are interested in becoming a CL, please contact Jax. As stated, this position is voluntary and CLs do not receive any special treatment when it comes to wins, losses or storylines. We also have several Discord Moderators who help keep the chat clean and handle any concerns. Like the CLs, these people are volunteers and we ask that you respect the time they put in to help the fed. In both cases, CL and Moderator Names are gold on Discord.
Unless you require a direct line to Jax, we ask that any minor issues please be routed first through a Community Liaison. This role was created specifically to reduce load on Jax. Juggling an efed alone is a large task and there are dozens of players here. It’s unrealistic that everyone runs to her with every little issue when a CL is more than able to serve you.

DRAMA
UPRISING strives to be a drama-free atmosphere. Unfortunately, this is efedding, and drama happens in even the most healthy efed cultures. We take a very firm stance against drama. Though tempers do flare and it’s not easy to see your characters lose, overreaction, politicking, lying, backstabbing and rumor mongering will not be tolerated. Warnings will be issued when warranted. Expulsion will occur when necessary. If you find yourself concerned or unhappy with the direction of your character, please contact a Community Liaison or Jax but keep in mind that there are dozens of players in UPRISING and at any time, nearly all of them want to succeed. We only ask that when you come to any of us with your grievances, you do so respectfully and remain open to alternative directions.
WINNING AND LOSING
The nature of efedding means that not everyone can win and not everyone’s characters can shine at any given moment. Sometimes your character will lose. Sometimes they will win. This is an angle fed, which means wins and losses are decided based on what serves the story best. Not just your character’s storyline, but everyones, including the fed’s overall meta plot. Also keep in mind that Twitter and segments are taken into account, as promotion of your matches is considered part of these storylines.
TWITTER
Social media has been a staple of efedding (for better or worse) for several years now. We believe it is warranted to state a few things regarding the platform. We have a standard policy of not blocking your fellow UPRISING players except for in extreme situations. You can follow or unfollow. You can outright ignore everything they say (though keep in mind the WINNING AND LOSING section above). Blocking should only be done in the most severe scenarios and we would prefer players work things out with a Community Liaison or Jax before going so far as to block. The reason for this is that since Twitter is considered as part of the angles which decide wins and losses, it would harm players to be locked out of interactions with other players. However, we understand that some players go out of their way to harass others. This would fall under the DRAMA clause seen above, and in those situations moderation is suggested to help get everyone on the same page.
STORYLINES AND ANGLES
The great thing about angle feds is that it takes the stress of writing competitive RPs out of the equation and allows players to spend more time on their on and off camera actions. Unfortunately this also means that there is not a standard, measurable rubric that decides the results. An angle fed is much more subjective, and this can sometimes lead to players not getting their way. Ultimately UPRISING strives to reinforce good storytelling and reward players who put forth the effort to develop good quality angles. Any storyline ideas you may have should be run by Jax. If you need help brainstorming or want to toss ideas around, please contact a Community Liaison.
SELLING AND BURYING
An unseemly aspect of Twitter is that many characters are written to outright ignore the successes of others in order to not appear weak. Ignoring the achievements of other characters does the opposite. You the player, must of course write your character in a way that is faithful to your creation, but if your characters outright refuse to acknowledge the successes of others (or even worse, ignore them), then it will likely negatively impact your character’s success in UPRISING. We do not ask you to sing the praises of everyone you face. We simply do not want you to bury every opponent. If your opponent is Silver State Champion, for example, going on a tear about how terrible they are without any sort of explanation is lazy writing. On the flip side, perhaps that champion has only faced talent your character considers subpar. That is something you could point out while not completely taking away from the fact that they are a defending champion. All of our champions are carefully awarded and each title should maintain a high level of prestige.
BOOKING
All booking decisions go through Jax. Players, including Community Liaisons, have no say in what matches are made or the outcomes of them. Players are more than welcome to make suggestions and requests, but you do not dictate who you work with. You may not like another player, but that does not mean your characters will not match up at some point. We are a smaller efed. There are only so many combinations that can be made. Likewise, you do not decide who you lose to, especially when titles are involved. You are more than welcome to make suggestions and request certain outcomes or overall storylines, but there is no guarantee your preferences will make it to the finalized results. Furthermore, any attempts to book yourself into title matches using Twitter will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, challenging other characters to unsanctioned fights and baiting other players into unwinnable dares. This also applies to demanding a card be changed if you have been left off during the cycle rotation. Not everyone will be booked every single show.
SUCCESS IN OTHER EFEDS
Nearly every character in UPRISING came from another efed, and many actively compete in other efeds. While we do want to acknowledge your character’s history and successes, we also want to point out that winning at another efed does not mean you will win here. Holding a title in another efed does not mean you will be given title opportunities. We respect what your characters have done elsewhere, but in UPRISING your wins, losses and storylines are determined solely by the effort you put in here.
ALIGNMENT
When you fill out an application, you choose an alignment for your character. This goes beyond Heel and Face, and is a defining trait that helps shape their actions and reactions in game. You absolutely can change alignment. If you do so, make sure to update your app. But behaving in ways that go completely counter your character's alignment should come with a cost. For example, if you are a good character and behave in ways that run counter to that on a continual basis, your on screen characterization would suffer with the fans. If you do it enough, your alignment might shift permanently without your consultation because your activities reflect a different alignment. Note, this could be from minor slip (Lawful to Neutral, Neutral to Chaotic) to major slip (Good to Neutral, Neutral to Evil). If you require something more nuanced such as adding an "undertone" or "tendency", do so, as that will help everyone understand the context of the character you are portraying. Keep this in mind with how your characters act on both social media and in segments. This is not to stifle creativity or understandable reactions, but to ensure everyone understands that your alignment should be considered at all times involving in-character activity.
WARNINGS AND EXPULSION
Violating the Code of Conduct and Terms of Service will result in a warning being issued. Repeated warnings can and likely will lead to expulsion. We do not want players here that cause constant issues, whether it’s complaining about match outcomes, booking decisions, or fighting with other players currently on the roster. If you cannot play nice, please move along to another efed. By and large, a vast majority of players who have been in UPRISING have been positive contributors. Unfortunately we have had our fair share of detractors, abusers and anglers who only care about themselves or their clique. We want everyone here to succeed in telling their stories but it is impossible to please everyone. If you are unhappy with how your character is portrayed on our shows and the only way you can express that displeasure is through drama, anger and vitriol, then you are more than welcome to not let the door hit you on the backside as you leave. We are in Season 3 of UPRISING now. We want the rest of this season and beyond to be about working together, not tearing each other apart. If you cannot get on board with this, you are not welcome here.
