TEAM NAME: The Blackwood Brothers
TEAM MEMBERS: Blake and Blade Blackwood
BILLED FROM: Henderson, NV
TEAM/FACTION BIOGRAPHY:
Blake and Blade Blackwood are gridiron legends in the state of Nevada. In the mid-2000’s the pair of them terrorized the Nevada High School 5A football scene. Blake, the older brother, was a standout linebacker for the Liberty High School Patriots. Blade was a monster tight end. The brothers were both all-state players and the pair of them won back-to-back state championships in Blake’s junior and senior years. (Blade won a third title in his senior year, after Blake graduated. The fact that he has one more state title is something he never lets Blake live down.)
Blake accepted a football scholarship to The University of Nevada where he excelled, and it was expected that Blade would follow him a year later. It was shocking, then, when Blade instead took a scholarship offer from Fresno State where it was a certainty that he would face Blake every year in conference play. Though he never outright stated it, those who knew him thought that Blade did this because it meant that as a tight end, he would play directly against his linebacker older brother in those annual meetings. This was the first real emergence of Blade’s desire to step out of Blake’s shadow and forge his own path.
Both brothers became all-conference performers for their schools, and for three years the Fresno/Nevada rivalry was the hottest in the Mountain West with the Blackwood Brothers at its center. The pair were both late-round NFL draft picks. Blake bounced around three teams in five years, but never quite cracked the starting lineup. Blade actually had the longer career as a special teams contributor for six years before washing out of the league.
Like many former NCAA Football players, they soon drew interest from the pro wrestling world. They originally aspired to be singles competitors; Blade especially blanched at the idea of being in a Tag Team with his older brother. They were both big, strong, and explosive—but they lost as often as they won. It wasn’t until a tag team tournament needed an extra team that they were put together; and they were really good. What shortcomings each man had as singles were balanced out in their team. They were christened the “Super Bash Brothers” a name they hated but made the most of. They’ve finally made enough noise that they’ve come to the attention of more prominent organizations and have signed with Uprising, in their home state. They dropped the cumbersome name and are simply known as the Blackwood Brothers.
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Good.
WHY THEY'D BE CHEERED: They’re a pair of wild, fun-loving, All-American boys. They dazzle with power and strength, and people enjoy their crazy antics.
WHY THEY'D BE BOOED: I suppose, at their worst, they might be seen as frat boy, jock, bully assholes if they leaned into that side of their personality.
TENDENCY TO CHEAT:
- Rarely
THEME SONG: 'Do Ya Wanna Taste It' – Wig Wam
MATCH TENDENCIES: Inside the ring they’re powerful and athletic. They believe in bringing heavy artillery like the Road Warriors, the Steiners, or Brody/Hansen before them. Blake is the strategist and the ring general, he “calls the plays” as it were. Blade relies more on his natural athletic ability. His tenacity tends to cast him as the Ricky Morton of the brothers, absorbing punishment to try and get a hot tag to Blake.
BACKSTAGE TENDENCIES: Blake is more cool-headed and even than his brother. Blade is the hot-headed brother. He’s more vocal and effusive. If the brothers are going to get into a fight, it’s most likely from Blade’s mouth, or Blade exploding and throwing the first punch. More often than not the Blackwoods are found together. They are very approachable and friendly. They are usually drinking beer or playing cards and their table is open to anyone who hasn’t pissed them off. But disputes do tend to wind up in brawls with them more often than not.
FIGHT-ENDING STYLE:

- SUPERIOR STAMINA: Uses their superb conditioning to wait for the opponent to tire, before ending the fight on their terms.

TEAM SIGNATURE MOVES

3. 'Necessary Roughness' – Blade hits a chop block, while blake hits a running shoulder tackle
4. 'Two Point Conversion' – Blade powerbombs one member of the opposing team, then Blake military press slams the other member on top of the poor bastard.

- Strength: Intelligence. Blake is the smarter of the Blackwood Brothers. He’s the leader. He was a team captain for three years in high school, and two years in college. He understands rules, gray areas, tag team tactics and ring positioning. He frequently “calls the plays” for his brother.
- Strength: Conditioning. Despite his size, the man was an all-conference FBS football player and played in the NFL for five years. He won’t get gassed or tired out when someone tries to drag him into the deep water.
IN-RING WEAKNESSES:
- Weakness: Family. He will do anything for his little brother and can be manipulated or exploited if Blade is imperiled or injured.
- Weakness: “When all you have is a hammer…” Blake is not a gifted technical wrestler and his strategy tends to default to “hit the other guy harder”. He doesn’t have many tools in his arsenal outside of brute force to win matches with.
- Weakness: Right ankle. Blake suffered an ankle injury towards the end of his senior year at Nevada. Most experts agree that it hampered his NFL career and kept him from really fulfilling his potential.

IN-RING STRENGTHS:
- Strength: Strength. Just look at the guy. He’s a powerful man capable of feats of great strength.
- Strength: Tenacity. Blade is tough as nails. He will never quit. He can absorb lots of punishment and still keep going. This trait is magnified if he’s fighting in front of Blake; he refuses to stay down as long as Blake is watching.
- Strength: Conditioning. Despite his size, the man was an all-conference FBS football player and played in the NFL for six years. He won’t get gassed or tired out when someone tries to drag him into the deep water.
IN-RING WEAKNESSES:
- Weakness: Blade has a chip on his shoulder. He has an inferiority complex as it relates to Blake. This would never manifest itself in betrayal, but it does create a tendency to prove himself and try to step out of Blake’s shadow. He may try to stay in a match when he should tag out, for instance. Or take unnecessary risks to try and prove that he’s more than, “Blake’s little brother.”
- Weakness: “When all you have is a hammer…” Blade is not a gifted technical wrestler and his strategy tends to default to “hit the other guy harder”. He doesn’t have many tools in his arsenal outside of brute force to win matches with.
- Weakness: Ill tempered. Blade has a temper and can be goaded into mistakes with it.
