“It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock’n roll.. What goes up must come down”
No matter how many times it happened before it still stung and it still made you feel sore. Gaston Gillet the now former Silver State Champion thought back to Revolution’s Season one Finale, his match against Griffin Hawkins, those mighty fine words, inspirational words that him and Griff had exchanged. Despite all his years in the business, despite losing before he felt different in Reno, he felt being one with the fans of Revolution, that UPRISING was his home, that the fans were his people, his family.
Griff will take good care of the people, he’ll be a great champion. Of course he will, he is not a first timer with gold..he became a double champion.. Because, because he lost to you. Merde!
He sat alone in the dark, in the dark so no one would see his tears, that nobody would see a grown man crying over a loss in a match. What made this hurt so much more? He had lost before, plenty of times to people less than Griff, had he grown an ego on top of his muscles, had the cheers and love of the fans gone to his head, did he think he was invincible? At least Mosh didn’t win. You made it through Samantha Tolson a legend just like Griff Hawkins, it could have been her, she had been a champion before, two time Silver State Champion..would a loss to her had hurt less? Probably not.
Marseille, the home he had grown up, the kids in the street, Mama and Papa. All of them could have seen him get good again, not just a good but great a champion..and now for the next show. He would have to go there, in front of the fans without his championship. He might have as well been heading to the ring naked, had Griff Hawkins exposed him as a fraud? They had a match before Kendrick Kross ruined it or had Kendrick actually gotten him an extension in his run? Did he owe Kendrick Krossa a thank you?
No, never, he accomplished all he had on his own, the results came from his own input, his own actions and..what hurt him was to look in the eyes of the twins, those two were like his own children even if they weren’t Ari, his cherie had smiled, told him all the worlds he needed to hear and yet, same time he felt like she said the things that he needed to hear but at the same time..he felt like she had been let down, just like the twins, like the fans, like everyone..
His massive shoulders twitched beyond his own control, he felt a shiver go through his whole body, tears just wouldn’t stop. He needed to snap out of it, he needed to focus, he couldn’t go back to Reno like this, a pathetic wreck.. He needed to put on that familiar smile, look like a champion just like he had on his debut, he had lost matches then too, before being a champion again. It was a hell of a struggle to get to the top, he fell for the rock’n roll man..embodiment of a bygone era yet something that seemed to always come back, it was not just a movement, because movement starts and it stops..but revolution it always come back, right in your face. Just like Griff Hawkins had..like he did wherever he went. Such a loveable, respectful dude who had not said one word edgewise to him..yet he was a champion now.
He had gone through and experienced the highest of highs and now he had fallen down all the way to the lowest of the low. So what’s next? Get back to your feet, get of your ass and bounce back to the top. One match at a time Petite G..you still have your family Christelle, Ari, Twins..
..and your fans. Revolution was up on a new season and he’d get to start it off against a familiar face, someone who had experienced what he had, losing the Silver State Championship..twice and she didn’t stop.
Suddenly a click, light switch, bright, blinding light. When his eyes got used to it, he saw Arianna Manning, his rock, his support. His everything. It was time to go.
Time to go back home to Reno, to man up and face Samantha Tolson.
