WHAT BRINGS YOU TO UPRISING?
"We of BLACK CRUSADE INTERNATIONAL are making our intentions known to join UPRISING in order to aid our trusted BLACK CRUSADE teammate, Kalinda Kriegsdottir.
While we are here in UPRISING, we intend to accomplish, and continue to accomplish often, 3 primary goals: CONQUER, CONSUME, and CONTROL.
We will speak our words eloquently, but our actions will echo and reverb so much further than simply the wrestling ring in UPRISING's homebase of Las Vegas.
Make no mistake, we intend on winning championships and clutching to them with grasps stronger than iron, but those championships will serve as the tangible demonstrations of our domination over those who choose to fight us -- as well as those who are chosen by UPRISING management to fight us -- rather than step aside from our warpath.
This is our mission.
This is our CRUSADE.
We will not stop, no matter how hard you fight back, and no matter how much to try to break us.
Be afraid.
Be very afraid." - JIRITSU, on behalf of BLACK CRUSADE WORLDWIDE
PERSONALITY OVERVIEW: CLIMAX generally stands mostly silently and menacingly, his sheer height alone instilling silent menace, menacingly silent fear, and general disquietment...and also menace. But honestly, it's all perception, since other than what he does in the ring, he merely stands around and lets his size exude its natural aura of menace. (This is of course entirely intentional, because if he were to betray any appearance of an actual personality beyond "tall ass-kicker", he, like his other masked teammates, may risk exposing his unmasked identity.)
STRENGTHS:
- IN-RING: CLIMAX is pure power (with a bit of roughneck thrown in for good measure) and WILL lift you, and then he WILL throw you. Also, like the rest of the group, CLIMAX displays an almost-reckless level of fearlessness in the ring, but is a bit more measured in his movements simply due to his size and lack of aerial maneuvers. His size also allows him to easily brush off most basic attacks, particularly at the beginning of a match. He has more than once managed to actually huck the ring steps over the top rope into the ring, dude lifts that much.
- OUT-OF-RING: While masked, CLIMAX is...present. He'll offer the occasional grunt, nod/head-shake/shrug/etc, and the occasional short Japanese sentence in response to any direct inquiries. (Again, this is entirely on purpose and necessary, as even SPEAKING a single word of English in his quite distinctive voice would risk exposing his unmasked identity.)
WEAKNESSES:
- IN-RING: CLIMAX may be more mobile than most men his size, but even the most mobile of 6'8" colossi have their limits when it comes to smaller opponents out-maneuvering them. Additionally, while his bursts of power are more than enough for most opponents, he WILL have a somewhat more difficult time with heavier opponents (imagine Kane vs. Albert or Mark Henry vs. Big Show). Thirdly, he occasionally likes to "play with his food" a bit too much, and that lax attitude usually costs him the advantage at least temporarily.
- OUT-OF-RING: CLIMAX (once again, entirely on purpose and out of necessity) is quite hard to read if you're not any of his teammates.
ALIGNMENT: Whichever alignment fellow BLACK CRUSADE teammate Kalinda Kreigsdottir is currently at, otherwise Chaotic Neutral in general.
WHY THEY'D BE CHEERED: CLIMAX loves showing off his strength on a regular basis, with the occasional flash of "how can somebody that big be so agile??", and is not above using weapons (also guaranteed pop-getters in most circumstances). Frequent strength-based double and triple team moves with PyreBird and JIRITSU also pretty much guarantee cheers.
WHY THEY'D BE BOOED: What's a guaranteed way to get fans to boo you? Deny them the opportunity to see a big guy do big guy things or refuse to show off his agility. His weapon use also elicits boos against fan favorites, and sometimes he'll fight outside (intentionally) to a count-out or double count-out, which is also a surefire boo-getter even against heels (because fans hate countout finishes a large majority of the time).
REASONS TO COMPETE:
- BLOODLUST/VIOLENCE: Your character gets a thrill from the violence. For them, winning and losing is secondary to being able to spill the blood of another human being.
ATTITUDE TOWARDS TEAMWORK:
- INNER CIRCLE: Your character will team with a select few ONLY. Outside of that small circle, they'd be considered anti-social, but within their group, they're fiercely loyal.
TENDENCY TO CHEAT:
- Sometimes; Like his teammates, CLIMAX is what is known on TV Tropes as a "Combat Pragmatist" and will often use whatever is available/convenient/nearby to aid him. His favored use of weapon is tossing opponents onto and/or through them.
THEME SONG: 'The Tiger Warrior' (Killer Instinct 2013 - Jago's theme) – Mick Gordon
(Note: Whenever possible, CLIMAX enters matches accompanied by all of his BLACK CRUSADE teammates; otherwise, he only enters accompanied by PyreBird and JIRITSU, or failing that, only JIRITSU.)
VALET/MANAGER: JIRITSU (main) & PyreBird (secondary)
VALET/MANAGER FACE CLAIM: Custom picbase, and Jennifer Widerstrom/American Gladiator Phoenix
VALET/MANAGER PURPOSE: In regular matches (with DQ), JIRITSU and PyreBird stand around menacingly and to serve as an insurance policy to prevent outside interference against CLIMAX. In matches with no DQ, JIRITSU and PyreBird will strategigenerally get some hits in if/when the opponent is thrown out of the ring near her, and will also throw them back into the ring if they're trying to escape for whatever reason. She will also talk strategy with JIRITSU whenever they're outside.
WRESTLING EXPERIENCE: Officially unknown/unrevealed, but CLIMAX first *appeared* in pro wrestling in 2014 as a member of BLACK CRUSADE INTERNATIONAL.
(However, in the redacted records, Rick Rohl, the man underneath the mask, has been training since 2009 and officially wrestling professionally since 2010.)
WRESTLING STYLE: A mix of the following...
50% - THE HOSS: Relies on brute strength and size to dominate their opponent. They don't have much talent in terms of actual wrestling skill, but they can still hurt you.
-- CLIMAX, being the titanic powerhouse he is, mainly relies on powerful throws and out-powering his opponents. (Having been mentored by several ring generals in his early unmasked years though, his grasp of the basics of both moves and psychology is much greater than the average hoss, however.)
10% - THE SPORTS ENTERTAINER: Relies on their charisma and showmanship to mask their limited wrestling ability. They can fight, but not to the level of some of their more skilled peers.
-- Occasionally CLIMAX cannot resist playing to the crowd, and it's at this point when he busts out his taunts and showmanship (mainly teasing shows of strength or uncharacteristic agility) in manners primarily used in his previous unmasked persona. Vertical suplex? He'll hold you up and show off his strength. Body press? He'll then press you a few times before throwing you. It's also one of the infrequent occasions you'll hear his voice as he sometimes boisterously laughs at your feeble and foolish attempts to mount a comeback. Appropriately, "sports-entertainer mode" is also when he's most vulnerable to counters and flash pins.
15% - THE PURIST: Relies on hard-hitting, old-school brawling. Takes the throwback traditional wrestling style and makes it relevant once again.
-- He's powerful. He'll punch you. He'll kick you. He'll throw Lariats at you. Sometimes he might Shoulder-Block you or hit big Leg Drops and Knee Drops. His grapples are basic most of the time, but when you're his size and build, do they really need to be THAT complicated?
15% - THE STRONG STYLIST: Relies on hard-hitting (often stiff) moves and sharp strikes. Whether it's punches, chops, kicks, throws or submission holds, this fighter wants to hit hard, hit fast and hurt their foes.
-- Alongside his "purist" wrestling arsenal, he's a hard hitter with a hardy physique and he WILL let you know it.
10% - THE EXTREMIST: Relies on weaponry and their surroundings to abuse their opponents. Their primary objective, aside from victory, is to maim, bludgeon and incapacitate. Nothing is off-limits for this fighter.
-- Why bother using your impressive physique and grasp of basic wrestling when using weapons is just so much easier and quicker and more painful to your opponent? Well, the BLACK CRUSADE make no secret of their propensity to use all the hardware at their disposal, and CLIMAX is no different. If he can get away with it, he'll use it.
which all mix to create a variation of an - ALL-ROUNDER: Combines a variety of styles from different disciplines to disable and defeat their opponent.
MATCH TENDENCIES: Inside the ring, CLIMAX operates on a philosophy of "strike first, strike fast, strike fierce" (like his teammates), looking to end a match as quickly as possible with his impressive physical strength. He will throw you. A lot. He will punch and kick you, VERY hard. Every so often, when he's shifted momentum back into his favor after losing it, he might attempt to introduce a steel chair into the proceedings, with varying results, before inevitably using the opportunity (distraction or not) to go for a signature/finisher.
BACKSTAGE TENDENCIES: CLIMAX stands around, imposingly. Silently (mostly). His very motives obscured behind his mask and body-covering gear. OR he might act QUITE jovial, when the BLACK CRUSADE are in good spirits. It's only one or the other, no in-between.
FIGHT-ENDING STYLE:
- SUPERIOR STAMINA: Uses their superb conditioning to wait for the opponent to tire, before ending the fight on their terms.
- ULTRA-VIOLENCE: Focused around brutality, using weapons and their surroundings, leaving their opponent no choice but to concede defeat.
IN-RING STRENGTHS:
- Pure Power: When it comes to sheer power, few can match CLIMAX, and that's just the way he likes it. As previously said, he will use his strength to throw you a LOT, and it puts extra oomph behind striking moves like Lariats and Big Kicks.
- Gorilla Grip: Any submissions CLIMAX executes get a bit of extra sauce added to them as he applies additional pressure (due to the aforementioned physical strength) in order to tighten it.
IN-RING WEAKNESSES:
- Speed: CLIMAX relies entirely on his strength and menace, and while he has SOME agility, he's not faster than a smaller wrestler, and they will often use their speed to try and confuse and exhaust him and target his mobility.
- High-Risk, Higher Percentage of Failure: CLIMAX does not go to the top rope very often (think Kane's Clothesline, or Kane trying a Hurricanrana on A-Train that one time), but when he does, he better hope that he hits his move because missing it will put him at a HUGE disadvantage, much moreso than most smaller wrestlers.
FINISHERS
1. Towering Inferno - Akira Taue's "Chichibu Cement" Vertical Suplex to Choke Slam
2. RAGING CLIMAX - High-Angle Lifting Back Drop to Uranage Slam (Mark Jindrak's "Mark of Excellence", Sylvain Grenier's first finisher, or sometimes Akira Taue's "Ore ga Taue" Chokeslam variation) / CLIMAX will sometimes attempt a top rope version of this in bigger matches, definitely in championship matches.
SIGNATURE MOVES
1. Iron Claw (he will sometimes do an Iron Claw Slam chained from/to the submission)
- CLIMAX will attempt this most matches, and will usually win with it against jobbers.
2. Dragon Scissors - Dragon Sleeper with Body Scissors (SANADA's "Skull End" submission)
- CLIMAX will definitely attempt this during championship matches, and sometimes win with it in regular matches after having worn a mid-card opponent down enough.
3. "Griddle Cake" - Very high-angled Flapjack, usually to a whipped opponent or from an Arm Wrench setup, sometimes he'll spin while doing it for added hot-dogging.
- CLIMAX will do this move in pretty much every match, and will attempt the spinning version in championship matches.
4. Uproot German Suplex - Dead-lift German Suplex to a grounded face-down opponent, held for a pin.
- CLIMAX will usually chain from the Griddle Cake to this move in most matches.
5. CLIMAX Continuum - When CLIMAX wants to REALLY show off his strength, he'll pick somebody up and do a series of Schmidt Backbreakers (always a minimum of 2), then chain it to a Shoulder Breaker (sometimes 2 or 3), and finish it off with a Powerslam.
- CLIMAX will do the "2 Backbreakers, Powerslam" version every regular match, "At least 2 Backbreakers, at least 1 Shoulder Breaker, Powerslam" version on big matches, and in championship matches he'll do a bunch of each to pop the crowd and get them to count along with each one.
