WHAT BRINGS YOU TO UPRISING?
Upon finding success in his recent return to wrestling through Southern Rebellion in the form of their Hardcore Championship and making more than a few enemies, Forge charged his lawyer and manager, Aloysius Marcus Vance IV with finding him other opportunities to break bodies and cash checks. Upon hearing the upstart Uprising promotion through the grapevine, AMV gave Forge the hard sell, telling him that a neophyte promotion with no established history would be perfect, as he could write that history however he chose by showing up and kicking ass. Deciding that he'd give this new company something to scream about from the get, Forge has AMV acquire a contract which he signs and faxes that day.
Put simply, Forge sees opportunity in Uprising and is determined to see his name on top with gold over his shoulder and all the riches that come with it... no matter who he has to fight.
PERSONALITY OVERVIEW: Forge is perpetually angry and very few people see beyond that, which is how he likes it. He has his calm moments, but they are usually reserved for the quiet moments before a match.
STRENGTHS: He is deceptively intelligent, though not what someone would consider a genius. He knows how to make people listen and how to take advantage of weakness. Surprisingly, he is also very adept at inspiring loyalty. In the ring he is ferociously powerful and incessantly ornery; fighting is what he knows best, but fighting is not the same as wrestling. He has enough rudimentary wrestling skill to do what needs doing, but he will never put on a clinic. He is a fighter and revels in that. His stubbornness and temper can, and often do, get him in trouble, though.
WEAKNESSES: Forge never has and never will trust easily. He also never forgets a slight, minor or major. Beneath all the anger, there are also some matters that he has trouble letting go of, a few failures in recent memory that have exposed him as, for lack of a better term, human. They have nothing to do with wrestling, but they give him pause nonetheless... as matters of family often do. His age is on the verge of becoming a noticeable factor in the ring, something that no amount of training can stop forever. His temper, too, is a liability; often he will forego a victory to teach a lesson.
ALIGNMENT: Lawful Evil
WHY THEY'D BE CHEERED: Forge is unfailingly honest and upfront. He has no use for deceit or falsehood and no consideration for those whom the truth might hurt. If they can't handle the truth, they can't handle him. That sort of candor has earned him cheers in the past. Plus people like a straightforward ass-kicker who delivers minimal bullshit. What you see is what you get with the Martyr Machine and some fans latch on to that level of clarity.
WHY THEY'D BE BOOED: Forge does not care what people think of him. And he isn't shy about telling others what he thinks of them, either. He's big, mean, powerful and possesses nothing resembling a filter. When moments pass in which he might do something redeeming or perhaps earn a few cheers, he gives it a snarl and does the exact opposite. He delivers pain like no other and his non-discriminatory methods of deliverance often turn people off.
REASONS TO COMPETE:
- STEPPING STONE: Your character sees wrestling as a gateway to bigger and better things for them within their career, such as acting or modelling; something else within the public eye.
- BLOODLUST/VIOLENCE: Your character gets a thrill from the violence. For them, winning and losing is secondary to being able to spill the blood of another human being.
- MONEY IN THE BANK: Your character wants to be rich beyond their wildest dreams and sees wrestling (coupled with endorsements and celebrity status) as a means to achieve that.
ATTITUDE TOWARDS TEAMWORK:
- RELUCTANT SOLDIER: Your character would always prefer to fight alone but will reluctantly join forces with someone if it's for a good cause or a common goal.
TENDENCY TO CHEAT:
- Sometimes
THEME SONG: 'Deal With the Devil' – Pop Evil
VALET/MANAGER: Aloysius Marcus Vance IV
VALET/MANAGER FACE CLAIM: Christian Bale
VALET/MANAGER PURPOSE: AMV is at ringside solely to extol the virtues of his client to the disbelieving fans and, at times, to stubborn opponents. However, he keeps his distance from any fight and will not directly interfere in matches in any way, no matter what. He is very much a Paul Heyman-type at ringside, with a dash of Bobby Heenan in the way he verbally runs down opponents and a pinch of Lou Albano in how he buffs up the accomplishments of his client.
WRESTLING EXPERIENCE: Two years, predominantly professional.
WRESTLING STYLE:
- THE PURIST: Relies on hard-hitting, old-school brawling. Takes the throwback traditional wrestling style and makes it relevant once again.
- THE HOSS: Relies on brute strength and size to dominate their opponent. They don't have much talent in terms of actual wrestling skill, but they can still hurt you.
- THE STRONG STYLIST: Relies on hard-hitting (often stiff) moves and sharp strikes. Whether it's punches, chops, kicks, throws or submission holds, this fighter wants to hit hard, hit fast and hurt their foes.
MATCH TENDENCIES: He doesn't get paid by the hour; if he can knock an opponent out in less than a minute and get the win, he'll do it. Forge goes for the kill from the start. If an opponent can outlast the opening flurry, he's fine with beating the snot out of them until they have the sense to give up or lie still for three seconds.
BACKSTAGE TENDENCIES: Forge will probably be outside since you can't smoke ANYWHERE indoors. He is absolutely NOT approachable most of the time, though people who can manage not to get on his nerves might find him a little more accommodating.
FIGHT-ENDING STYLE:
- CEREBRAL: Overcomes the opposition through intelligence, ingenuity and superior ring psychology.
- ULTRA-VIOLENCE: Focused around brutality, using weapons and their surroundings, leaving their opponent no choice but to concede defeat.
IN-RING STRENGTHS:
- Overwhelming Physical Strength: Forge is a flat-out powerhouse. And unlike many, his muscles aren't just for show. He works hard in and out of the ring and as a result has more power than most of his opponents.
- Intense Focus: When he fights, Forge is locked in on the goal: pain, destruction and victory. Managers aren't worth noting unless they interfere. Fans are just background noise. Forge only see his opponent.
- Absolutely Without Fucks: As stated above, Forge doesn't have a filter. There is no voice telling him he shouldn't do this and little in the way of morals to keep him from sinking too low. As far as he's concerned, anything goes in a fight and he embraces that outlook.
IN-RING WEAKNESSES:
- Lacking Pure Wrestling Ability: Again, Forge is a fighter, not a wrestler. He knows enough about wrestling to get by and as far as he's concerned, that's all he needs. A techincally-sound opponent or a hardened veteran could give him trouble and frustrate him despite his power.
- Slightly Advanced Age: At 39, Forge is at an age when some are considering life after wrestling, and he has only been in the business around two years. Age hasn't caught up to him yet, but it reaching a point where it might.
- Vicious Temper: Despite his focus, if Forge gets angry enough, he says screw plans and aims to deliver pain, sometimes costing him a match or more. Often, though, he won't care till the damage is already done.
