Outskirts of the Eldorado Casino
Reno, Nevada
Moving with a brisk pace, but not running, the massive frame of Supreme Machine navigated the maze alleyways and dark streets that surround the bristling nightlife of Reno, Nevada with practiced precision. For a man of his size he was able to hide himself with astonishing effectiveness, the people going out and bout their life barely catching glimpses of him.
“I don’t think this is over…” the big man spoke to himself, the kinder side of him opening the discussion as they kept on moving. The events at Revolution 8 being the topic at hand.
“It is with the Raven. We did what we said we would. He is a fool if he doesn’t stay out of the picture now.” The monster within responded in a gruff voice. AS he did that, he stopped and sat down in a darkened corner, catching his breath. The melee with JC having left him more exhausted than he had predicted. “But the old man wasn’t expected… we would have finished the Raven without his interference.”
There was a silence as the big man caught his breath. “Fleeing was wise. You were in no shape to take him on as well. Especially with Amber showing up”. There was a hint of relief in the voice of the human side of him .His phrasing and use of pronouns clearly suggesting that the whole assault was out of his hands and all on the beast within. And the beast didn’t miss his implication.
“WE DID NOT FLEE! We had one goal and we left after it was complete. And I do mean WE.” IT was a low, threatening growl. Having to hightail had clearly wounded the beasts ego. “You really think we would have retreated if we hadn’t accomplished our goal? The raven fell. Nothing else matters.”
“I don’t think JC and Amber see it like that. They will come after us. You didn’t account to Knox having friends?” he was goading the beast. Intentionally. The balance of power within SuMa had always been one dominated by the beast. But ever since their sister had come into the picture, Tom had been trying to upset it in subtle ways. But the beast wasn’t to be fooled. A resounding thud echoed in the alleyway as SuMa hurled his head back, the back of his skull connecting with the brick wall he was leaning against.
“That is irrelevant and you know it. All they did was give us a new target to hunt. Neither the old man nor the little girl know what they are getting themselves into. They believe us to be a mindless monster. They try to ignore what we did to the Raven to avoid having to acknowledge the threat we possess. And any attempt at undermining me… will only end up hurting you weakling..” The beast snarled at his other half. The pain thudding on the back of his skull only affecting Tom. That had always been a big part of their conflict. The beast was able to shut down pain, by making the human side feel it for the both of them.
“My my… you really know how to get yourself into trouble Brother dearest.” The big mans musings were interrupted by the chuckling voice of Queenie, who flopped onto his field of vision upside down, hanging from a fire escape ladder by her knees. She was smiling widely and continued. “That was rude you know. Leaving me hanging and just running off on your own. Took me a while to track you down, but luckily I know how you think.”
Jenny dropped down and crouched down next to SuMa, who was staring daggers through her. Despite the familial connection the two share and the fact that they had worked together, SuMa was still extremely wary of the unpredictable persona Jennifer Rivers had unleashed on the world. Not because he was afraid of her. But because she wasn’t afraid of him. As Jenny reached over to wipe a trail of blood from his arm, SuMa snatched her wrist and stood up, leaving her dangling in midair. “Why did you follow us. You did what we asked you to. That was the extent your presence was required for. Go home. Explain this to Jennifer. Leave us.” His voice was still a menacing growl as he said that, lifting the lithe woman by the wrist so that she was eyelevel with him.
Jenny gave SuMa a childish pouty face before rolling her eyes. “I would. I just happen to be hanging by my arm in midair. So…. mind letting go of me? I know you’re big and mean but it’s kinda hard to walk when your feet can’t reach the ground” She pointed down to her legs with her free hand, causing the big man to growl and let go of her. She lands down on a 3 point stance and stands up, dusting off her clothes and smiling up to SuMa. “That’s better. And don’t worry. I’ll leave you two alone. I got business to take care in Indianapolis anyway. I’ll have a chat with Jennifer at some point. Toodeloo”
Jenny hops up and grabs the fire escape ladder, climbing up with surprising dexterity and vanishing out of view, leaving SuMa staring after her. The big man huffs and starts moving again. “We should just put her in her place. She thinks she has the upper hand on us. And I would but you keep holding me back weakling…” SuMa grumbles under his breath.
“We both need her. You know it. Tonight wouldnt’ve been possible without her help. Knox would still be running his mouth on social media if she didn’t help us lure him in” Tom spoke softly. The two sides of the man both had much to gain from Queenie. But their goals weren’t aligned. That lead to the uneasy truce they had on the issue.
“Just shut up weakling. We need to start planning on what to do with the broken old man and the little girl. They need to learn to not get involved in our business…”
