Few more days until Revolution 17, one on one with the fighting champion simply known as LEGION to the world. A fan favourite, self proclaimed savior and a hero..and another person who seems hell bent on ridding the wrestling business of one Luther Marcellus Thunder. He sat there in the dark, not brooding necessarily but the dim lighting was better for him, helped with the thinking. There was something eerie yet peaceful at the hors of dawn, sitting there alone in the silence. He didn’t want to wake his wife up, she needed her rest more than he did. Considering how much she had to go through for him, this husband of hers, who just some short months ago was at the top of the mountain of UPRISING, King Of Reno..and now he had been reduced to the role of a villain, a bad guy. Something he had done his best to avoid since coming here. Starting anew, a clean slate, new chapter in his career yet as is tradition things did not go his way. The pale light of the smart device flashed on his face as he went through carelessly on what was going on.
Huh Stef Stefano. Former wife of Lyn Dallins and a woman who had tried to bury him alive in a match. There is a lot of things one could say about the former Mrs. Dallins but Luther was sure that not that many could guarantee first hand just how hard that woman hits..with a shovel. He had thought that Buried Alive Matches could have become his trademark. A successful one against Chris Strike, a man who wanted to end him, rid the business of him. Had ended up in the ground himself. Stefano had tried the same and even if he lost, Luther had managed to stay in the business, Colleen Harmon came at him, he retired her from the ring. Shane Atwater wanted to end his career, yet couldn’t every now and then he’d still see Atwater remind him that should the two of them meet in any venue or place, Luther would not be leaving on his own accord. The list of people who wanted to end him, get revenge on him..how many times had he actually heard those threats, that chest pounding, false bravado from men and women, big and small. Everyone seemed to want a piece of him, preferably a good chunk.
Now there was a new name to that endless cavalcade: LEGION. That poor boy wanted to brag, he wanted to boast and get those fans going. Yet he thought he could just overlook someone like Luther, that he could dictate how the world turns. Oh no, Luther was an old dog in this race, he’d been around the block enough times, fought over any yard he stepped his foot on that if you accept scraps and handouts from people, then that’s where you would forever stay at the end of the table, salivating waiting for a treat, for being a good boy and doing what you were told. He had done enough of that working as an enforcer to most of his employers and while the “Luther of old” would have happily accepted his position, the supposedly “gracious” offer from a champion to get the first dibs..that was not what he was about, not anymore.
He was done waiting on others, going by their whims and their quirks. He had won enough championships, beaten enough champions and ended enough careers to dictate his own terms. Let the others wait on him, let them be the ones who had to keep their head on a swivel. LEGION wanted to be a hero, he wanted to portray himself as a fighter if he had not come out on Revolution 16 throwing his weight around playing the big man, maybe he could have ended the night on a happier note. Now thie big bad champion was calling him out? Calling for a match, barking orders at Gowan and Jackson both senior to him in their careers..and they chose to obey the champion..that was on them. Luther however saw a chance to make a statement of his own, give the fans something to really boo him for (for once) for years the masses had booed and jeered at the mere mention of his name, this would be no different. The fans had shown how little they thought of him, his gratitude and his gift for them..well they had their chance, just like the champion.
In a few short days, he would get a chance to show them all just what the hell this all was about, treat them like the trash they were, like the waste they saw him as.
His face turned to that almost trademark cheshire cat smirk in the light of the phone before he frowned.
What in the world was getting one’s cheeks clapped anyway?
And who the heck was Usher?
