WHAT BRINGS YOU TO UPRISING?
The Crowe’s ran Black Mountain Wrestling for four generations in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. Recently it was forced to close by the government due to the pandemic. They were offered a contract by UPRISING to keep their heritage alive.
PERSONALITY OVERVIEW: Otis is descended from the mountain folk of Appalachia which influences their manner of speaking, behavior and skepticism of outsiders.
STRENGTHS:
Brute strength.
Surprising quickness and agility for a man his size (think Bam Bam Bigelow).
Ruthless Aggression.
WEAKNESSES:
Blind anger.
Disregard for his own wellbeing.
Despises urban America and its peoples.
ALIGNMENT: Neutral Evil
WHY THEY'D BE CHEERED: There will be some in the crowd, especially in places like Reno, who will identify with their bigotry, hatefulness and blind nationalism.
WHY THEY'D BE BOOED: They are bigoted, hateful nationalists who want to rid the country of undesirables and spread their propaganda.
REASONS TO COMPETE:
- GLORY: Your character is all about winning and cannot stand to lose. It sends them into a rage. They have to be the very best and they'll stop at nothing – for better or worse – to achieve that.
- BLOODLUST/VIOLENCE: Your character gets a thrill from the violence. For them, winning and losing is secondary to being able to spill the blood of another human being.
- PASSION: All your character has ever wanted to do is wrestle. It's in their blood; their DNA. They eat, breathe and live this sport and for them it's a way of life.
ATTITUDE TOWARDS TEAMWORK:
- TOTAL TEAM PLAYER: Your character will team with anyone, even if they don't share a common interest or goal. Appreciates the benefits of friends and allies.
TENDENCY TO CHEAT:
- Always
THEME SONG: 'You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive' – Darrell Scott
VALET/MANAGER: Wade Crowe (father). If wrestling singles, his father and brother Silas always accompany him to the ring.
VALET/MANAGER FACE CLAIM: Mel Gibson
VALET/MANAGER PURPOSE: Provide distractions. Aid victories. Dispense tactical advice.
WRESTLING EXPERIENCE: 14 years.
WRESTLING STYLE:
- THE PURIST: Relies on hard-hitting, old-school brawling. Takes the throwback traditional wrestling style and makes it relevant once again.
- THE TECHNICIAN: Relies on a catch-as-catch-can style of wrestling, featuring a variety of suplexes, submission holds and ground-based wrestling.
- THE EXTREMIST: Relies on weaponry and their surroundings to abuse their opponents. Their primary objective, aside from victory, is to maim, bludgeon and incapacitate. Nothing is off-limits for this fighter.
MATCH TENDENCIES: To beat and batter the opponent until they can’t function. Winning comes naturally.
BACKSTAGE TENDENCIES: Avoids anyone other than family.
FIGHT-ENDING STYLE:
- OUT-WRESTLING: Beats the opponent using their preferred wrestling style.
- CEREBRAL: Overcomes the opposition through intelligence, ingenuity and superior ring psychology.
- ULTRA-VIOLENCE: Focused around brutality, using weapons and their surroundings, leaving their opponent no choice but to concede defeat.
IN-RING STRENGTHS:
- Strong as an ox.
- Surprising quickness and agility for a man his size (think Bam Bam Bigelow).
- Ruthless Aggression.
IN-RING WEAKNESSES:
- Blind anger. Can be manipulated into making mistakes by giving into his rage.
- Not used to seeing aerial attacks, as that style never made its way to Black Mountain Wrestling.
- Disregard for his own wellbeing. Punishing the opponent and winning is more important than getting injured in the process.
FINISHERS
1. 'Appalachian Death Grip' – Tongan Death Grip
Otis darts his hand under an opponent's chin and grabs a hold of a pressure point above the throat, squeezing the nerve. This cuts off the air supply and the opponent fades out, yet this is not considered an air choke as it is not squeezing the windpipe. This hold is unique in that it can be used as a sleeper like submission or, should the "unconscious" opponent end up lying on his back, a pinfall.
2. ‘Cattle Gun’ – Muscle Buster
This move is performed when an attacking wrestler hooks both an opponent's legs with his/her arms and tucks their head in next to the opponent's before standing and lifting the opponent up, so that they are upside down with their head resting on the attacking wrestler's shoulder. From this position, the attacking wrestler jumps up and drops down to the mat, driving the opponent shoulder first down to the mat with the opponent's neck impacting both the wrestler's shoulder and the mat.
SIGNATURE MOVES
(Maximum of Five)
1. 'As The Crowe Flies' – Rounding Moonsault.
2. 'Ura-nage'
3. 'Cobra Clutch Bulldog'
4. 'Running Somersault Senton’
5. 'Snake Eyes' – This move sees the wrestler place the opponent's stomach down on his or her shoulder such that they both are facing the same direction. The wrestler then throws the opponent face-first onto any top turnbuckle or throat-first on any top rope of the ring.
COMMON MOVES
1. Headbutt
2. Palm Strikes in the corner
3. Throat Thrust
4. Body Avalanche
5. Short-arm Clothesline
6. Side Slam
7. Swinging Gutbuster
8. Half-Nelson Slam

10. Brainbuster
BACKSTAGE APPEARANCES: Do you want segments and/or backstage interactions to be written FOR YOU or would you prefer to submit your own?
- NO: I definitely want to write and submit my own segments and realize that the failure to do so will result in a lack of involvement in the ongoing plotlines and/or receiving push towards championships.
