WHAT BRINGS YOU TO UPRISING?
Jack's burned a lot of bridges over the years, and when you think about the career of Jack Owyns. The first thing that instantly pops into your mind is a train wreck.
The once-promising rookie that shocked an entire wrestling company to becoming the black sheep of the wrestling industry.
And has nothing to do with his actual wrestling ability. Jack is an extremely good wrestler. He would be considered even a great wrestler, but due to his bad antics inside and outside the ring. He has painted himself in a negative light with former employers and his peers.
For Uprising though, it could be a low-risk, high-reward signing for them. Maybe Uprising will be Jack’s redemption story.
PERSONALITY OVERVIEW: How would you describe Jack Owyns. Well, let’s see, he’s angry, arrogant, blunt, brutal, cold, crazy, crude, deceitful, destructive, difficult, disrespectful, disruptive, disturbing, hateful, hostile, ignorant, insulting, sadistic, uncaring, unfriendly… Get the picture, or shall I continue on? He’s the antagonist to every protagonist. A real modern-day villain.
STRENGTHS: Contrary to popular belief, and something he would never admit… Deep down, Jack does care about the wrestling industry. He acts like he doesn’t, but he does care. He understands the business inside out. Knows how to build, and sell. Fill arenas.
WEAKNESSES: Jack’s known for having issues with drugs and alcohol. Also, he easily can become lost in the moment. Like, forgetting that rules and laws apply to him. Something that has had contracts terminated with wrestling promotions and free night stay behind bars.
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Evil
WHY THEY'D BE CHEERED: Though Jack is generally disliked by members of management, his peers, and wrestling fans. He has, however, over the years gathered a small cult-like following of fans. Some people love his antics inside and outside of the ring.
WHY THEY'D BE BOOED: Jack’s just not a nice person. He’s just easy to dislike. He is the villain, and plays the persona rather well.
REASONS TO COMPETE:
- BLOODLUST/VIOLENCE: Your character gets a thrill from the violence. For them, winning and losing is secondary to being able to spill the blood of another human being.
- PASSION: All your character has ever wanted to do is wrestle. It's in their blood; their DNA. They eat, breathe and live this sport and for them it's a way of life.
ATTITUDE TOWARDS TEAMWORK:
- INNER CIRCLE: Your character will team with a select few ONLY. Outside of that small circle, they'd be considered anti-social, but within their group, they're fiercely loyal.
TENDENCY TO CHEAT:
- Often
THEME SONG: 'Sex Drive' – Machine Gun Kelly
VALET/MANAGER: Oddball
VALET/MANAGER PURPOSE: Mostly Oddball will provide distractions. He’s no fighter. He’s actually a pretty decent guy that’s just not all there in the head.
WRESTLING EXPERIENCE: 13 years. [Debut December 18th, 2004]
WRESTLING STYLE:
- THE PURIST: Relies on hard-hitting, old-school brawling. Takes the throwback traditional wrestling style and makes it relevant once again.
- THE SPOT MONKEY: Relies on shocking high spots, daredevil antics and dangerous risk taking to compensate for lack of technical wrestling ability. Will put everything on the line to entertain fans and overcome the challenger.
- THE STRONG STYLIST: Relies on hard-hitting (often stiff) moves and sharp strikes. Whether it's punches, chops, kicks, throws or submission holds, this fighter wants to hit hard, hit fast and hurt their foes.
- THE EXTREMIST: Relies on weaponry and their surroundings to abuse their opponents. Their primary objective, aside from victory, is to maim, bludgeon and incapacitate. Nothing is off-limits for this fighter.
MATCH TENDENCIES: Inside the ring, Jack is rather vocal, constantly taunting his opponent. A tactic he uses to try and get inside his opponent’s head. Think Diaz brothers. He is aggressive and will push the fight forward but like all villains you’ve come across, he will cheat (eye gouges, eye rakes, the occasional low blow.) and he will back off; exit the ring when the odds aren’t in his favor.
BACKSTAGE TENDENCIES: Jack’s not here looking to make friends. He is here to fight, to wrestle. So mostly he will keep to himself, and if by chance you come across Jack backstage. Don’t turn your back.
FIGHT-ENDING STYLE:
- OUT-WRESTLING: Beats the opponent using their preferred wrestling style.
- ULTRA-VIOLENCE: Focused around brutality, using weapons and their surroundings, leaving their opponent no choice but to concede defeat.
IN-RING STRENGTHS:
1. Aggression. Jack fights angry, in your face, and against rookies, and wrestlers with not much experience. They can become overwhelmed when facing him inside the ring.
2. Cardio. He may be 36, but he's still fast and can go the distance.
3. Experience. Think what you want about Jack Owyns, but know this. Jack has gone toe to toe with some of the best wrestlers in the world over the years and stood his ground. He can fight. He can wrestle. He knows what he is doing inside the ring.
IN-RING WEAKNESSES:
1. Cockiness.
2. Previous Injuries. This isn't his first rodeo. Jack's an experienced veteran of the wrestling industry. Fought in many different types of matches over the years, and with all the wear and tear the industry does to one's body. He has picked up a few recurring injuries. Mainly his left leg isn't anywhere near %100.
3. Submission. It’s not like Jack is horrible at submission or anything, just not his favorite sort of wrestling. He will struggle against a pure submission wrestler. It’s like trying to shake a humping dog off your leg. The more you shake, the more it latches on. It's annoying and frustrating.
